Zadig & Voltaire This is Him

Zadig & Voltaire This is Him Review – Do You Need It?

This is Him.

An affordable winter fragrance.

Zadig & Voltaire This is Him was released in 2016. It is based on spices, amber, wood, incense, and vanilla. It lasts eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does This Is Him Smell Like?

I smell a touch of citric grapefruit with a punch of black pepper right off the bat. This spicy vein will remain for the rest of the wear, always keeping your attention. The odd part of the opening is the grapefruit. It’s not too loud or bright, just there.

Within a few minutes, the grapefruit will fall back. A hefty dose of incense with light and creamy vanilla will fill its void. The vanilla seems to be on fire, with smoke oozing out of it. This will be the focal point for the rest of the wear.

As the wear continues, there is a resinous nature. None are in the scent tree, but I’m confident of its presence. The vanilla gets darker in the mid with a degree of sweetness.

It picks up a powdery accent before sandalwood gives it a woody depth. The rest of the wear is a dark, semi-sweet vanilla and incense duo atop stronger sandalwood.

Performance

The longevity is above average. This is Him lasts eight hours on the skin. The projection is moderate. The first 1.5 hours of projection is excellent, but then it settles closer to the skin.

You have to be careful of the intensity of this scent. The projection stays the same for anything more than 5 – 6 sprays. It just gets more intense and chokes you out.

As for the seasons, it is exclusively fall and winter. In a four-season climate, you’ll get a solid five to six months of wear out of this.

This is Him can be worn for all occasions. One of my favorite parts about the scent is the mild projection that is wearable in close-quarter settings but also a smell that impresses for special occasions.

Lastly, the mass appeal and likability. There aren’t any extremely off-putting notes in the fragrance. This may be off-putting if you’re not a fan of smoky incense. Yet, other than that, the warm amber, vanilla, and incense combination are very alluring.

Zadig & Voltaire This is Him Clones

“Just Rock!” by Zadig & Voltaire is the best dupe of This is Him. It has the same vanilla and wood combination. However, it lacks the deep incense note in “This is Him.”

Final Words

On discounters, a 100mL bottle is around $60. This is an amazing price for a fragrance of this quality, but is it worth it? Yes, this is one of the best affordable winter fragrances for men. It is in a similar ballpark as Rochas Moustache EDP.

The only time this fragrance isn’t worth it is if you want a scent that announces your presence before your appearance.

This is Him is an excellent cologne and a great winter scent. Yet, don’t just limit yourself to This is Him. Check out the best winter colognes for men. All are primed to cut through the cold air; you might just find your signature scent.
