Montale Arabians Tonka Review – Do You Need It?

Arabians Tonka.

A sweet and intense vanilla bomb.

Montale Arabians Tonka was released in 2019. It is based on vanilla, amber, and oud. It lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Montale Arabians Tonka Smell Like?

Arabians Tonka opens exceptionally sweet. It is led by a heavy dose of saffron, tonka bean, and amber. The saffron is soft and subtle. It never “assaults” the nose. The amber provides an exceptionally warm and deep base. The tonka bean is the most prominent and has a sweet vanillic nuance.

There aren’t any vanilla notes in the fragrance. Anything that smells like so is from the tonka bean.

After a few minutes, an oud and rose combination comes through. It pairs well with the amber and tonka bean. In the mid, it is an exceptionally warm and creamy fragrance.

The oud and rose blend don’t stay prevalent for long. A heavy dose of saffron and sticky sweetness wash back over them. All notes mentioned above are present for the rest of the wear but in differing strengths.

Performance

Arabians Tonka lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. It has a room-filling projection for the first three to four hours. After this period, it recedes but maintains an arm’s length or more ambiance for the rest of the wear.

The sillage is just as good. This rich, dense fragrance leaves a long scent trail as you move around. The more you move, the better this smells and the further it projects. This performance is with one spray.

This is fall and winter wear. As for occasions, it is only casual wear. This stuff is so strong that it needs large areas to air out.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are average. This is definitely a fragrance for acquired tastes. This is an extremely high-quality blend of notes. But the fragrance is so overpowering that it can be overwhelming for many.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Montale Arabians Tonka worth it? Maybe. The biggest pro is that one bottle will last you a lifetime. The biggest con is its wearability. With such strong performance, it becomes hard to wear.

It is moderately expensive but not niche priced. This fragrance is a “YOLO” purchase and worth it. But how you spend your money is up to you.

If you try Montale Arabians Tonka, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
