Terre d’Hermes Parfum Review – Everything You Need To Know

Terre d’Hermes Parfum.

One of the best citrus colognes for men.

Hermes Terre d’Hermes Parfum was released in 2009. It is based on citruses and woods. It lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Terre D’Hermes Parfum Smell Like?

Orange starts off with a bang, followed by prominent grapefruit. The orange is bold, and the citruses are bitter. It can be overwhelming if you aren’t expecting the blast, but it dries down quickly.

Into the mid is a unique note of flint. It provides a slightly earthy/Stoney vibe. Calming down the abrasive citrus and preparing you for the sensual woody base.

This blend creates a bright, earthy aroma. Citruses still linger in the base harnessing the strength of the strong moss and woody notes. Amplifying the brightness is ginger, which adds spice and some warmth.

The rest of the wear is an invigorating fresh and woody cologne. Simple but bold and ready to satisfy.

Performance

Terre d’Hermes Parfum lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. For an authentic citrus fragrance, this is amazing performance. The first three hours, this pushes out an arm’s length or more. After this period, it recedes but maintains a mild ambiance of multiple feet for the rest of the wear.

The sillage is decent. As you move around, it projects and smells better, but it doesn’t have the depth to leave a long and dense scent trail as you walk around. Terre D’Hermes Parfum is more about the scent bubble than the scent trail. This performance is with three sprays.

Another surprise is its versatility. All seasons except the coldest days of winter. The cold weather drastically tempers the citruses. Even with heavier sprays, it is a diminishing return.

As for occasions, it is all. Normally a loud projector wouldn’t be great in close-quarter settings, but the scent is so pleasant it doesn’t overwhelm. This translates to its above-average mass appeal and likability.

The only reason some may dislike the scent is the subtle earthiness of the flint and woods. Yet, it’s not so intense that it’s off-putting.

Terre D’Hermes Parfum Clones

There are enough dupes to create an entire article. The most similar is the original Terre D’Hermes. The biggest difference is a minor change in woody cedar in the original to subtle oak moss in the Parfum version; everything else is the same.

Outside of the line, Montale Red Vetiver is the most similar. This is a better dupe of the original and, thus, a clone of the Parfum version by default. It has the same freshness, wood, and earthy tinge. But it places more emphasis on the wood accord than the citrus accord. This is virtually the only difference.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Terre D’Hermes Parfum worth it? Yes! Its biggest downfall is its minor decisiveness in the base of the fragrance, which some may find unattractive.

However, this is the main reason I and many others enjoy this fragrance. It’s a much-needed unique twist on a basic citrus and woody backbone. On top of this, it’s decently affordable, a far above-average performer, and high quality.

After you try Hermes Terre D’Hermes Parfum, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
