Sacred Wood.
Kilian Sacred Wood was released in 2014. It is based on sandalwood. It lasts 10-12 hours on the skin with above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Kilian Sacred Wood Smell Like?
An ultra-simple fragrance. The entire wear, I only smell two notes and fleeting wafts of others.
The opening is led by a fleeting green tinge. It is gone so quickly that I can’t figure out the specific note. I smell a hefty dose of sandalwood within seconds after the first spray. It is dominant and will remain that way for the rest of the wear.
At first, the sandalwood has a slightly harsh nature and spiced accent. This only lasts a few minutes while sandalwood “settles in.” I attribute this mainly to the authenticity of the sandalwood note.
Near the end of the wear, a creamy milk accord adds to the sandalwood. Making it exceptionally warm, smooth, and creamy.

Performance
Sacred Wood lasts 10-12 hours on the skin with excellent projection. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for the first three to four hours.
After this period, it recedes but maintains a very present aroma. This performance is with four sprays.
This is fall, winter, and early spring wear. It needs cooler temperatures, as the warmth of summer makes this very intense and almost suffocating.
As for occasions, it is all but office wear. With the combination of the intense woods and big projection, it becomes overwhelming in a confined space.
Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent. This beautiful fragrance is one of the most artisanally developed from the brand. It’s a simple woody aroma that is only overwhelming if worn incorrectly.
Final Words
There are no great clones of Sacred Wood, as this is unique. Diptyque Tam Dao EDP is based almost exclusively on sandalwood as well, but they aren’t similar in scent profiles and development.
The final burning question is, is Kilian Sacred Wood worth it? A sample or decant.
I love almost all Kilian fragrances as they are of the utmost quality. On top of this, Sacred Wood is a very simple yet unique fragrance. However, it is quite expensive.
I have a list of the best sandalwood colognes, and the top three are all amazing.
In short, this is a fragrance worth having, but make sure there aren’t other sandalwood fragrances that you enjoy a bit more.
