Bleu de Chanel EDT.
The original of the Bleu de Chanel line.
Bleu de Chanel EDT was released in 2010. It is based on citruses, woods, and spices. It lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate to light projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Bleu de Chanel EDT Smell Like?
Bleu de Chanel EDT opens with the signature Chanel Grapefruit followed by a touch of lemon. The dominance of both is short-lived. The grapefruit note will linger for the rest of the wear, but the lemon note will dissipate.
After a few minutes, you’ll smell an invigorating mixture of warm spices. Mint is the most prominent. It mainly comes across as aromatic but also has a spicy touch. Ginger and Pink Pepper are in the background amplifying the spicy nature.
Subtle, woody base notes creep in a couple of hours into the wear. While the spicy mint and ginger mix and mingle, creating an alluring aroma. The woody aroma comes from an interesting synthetic note Iso E Super. It mostly has woody and musky accents.
Dominant warm woods lead the dry-down. Lingering citruses and spices are in the base, but it’s all about the cedar, sandalwood, and Iso E Super mixture for the rest of the wear.

Performance
Bleu de Chanel EDT lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate to light projection. In the first two hours, it pushes out two to three feet. After this period, it recedes closer to a light ambiance for the rest of the wear. The sillage is decent. You’ll leave an average scent trail as you move around. This performance is with four sprays.
This is all-season and occasion wearable. It’s a true blue fragrance. It will never overwhelm with its moderate projection. And it’s also extremely sophisticated, enough to make you stand out on a formal occasion.
The mass appeal and likability are outstanding. Again it’s a blue fragrance that will garner compliments and attention. However, with this popularity comes a lack of uniqueness. It won’t be unique to you. But when this was first released, it can be argued to have started the blue fragrance genre.
Bleu de Chanel EDT Clones
The most similar fragrances are the Bleu de Chanel flankers. I have an entire article that compares and contrasts all three. Check it out here.
Outside of the line, Missoni Wave Parfum Pour Homme is the best flanker. It has the same prominent citrus, ginger, and wood notes. However, it’s not as well blended or as high-quality.
Final Words
Bleu de Chanel EDT is worth it. There’s no denying that this fragrance is amazing, even though it’s popular. However, the final question comes, is it the best Bleu de Chanel to own?
I don’t think so. Check out my ultimate guide to the Bleu de Chanel line to decide for yourself.
