What Does Acqua di Gio EDP Smell Like?
The overarching emphasis in the opening is freshness and brightness. I catch green Mandarin orange leading the charge. It is more zesty than sweet and grabs attention. In the background are sea notes and aromatics.
At first, the sea notes sit in the background and provide support. At the same time, the geranium and sage aromatics amplify the freshness of the citric mandarin orange.
Over time, the citric nature will fade, and the aromatics will get more intense, retaining the fresh nature.
In the dry down, the mineral note will come out to play. The last subtle additions in the base are woody vetiver nuances and a patchouli note that jumps to the forefront of the aromatics.
The rest of the wear is fresh aromatics, woody nuances, and a mineral sea note backbone.

How Long-Lasting Is Acqua di Gio EDP?
Acqua di Gio EDP lasts seven hours on the skin with above-average projection. This is, thankfully, better than the original EDT.
It pushes out an arm’s length or more at its peak for the first two to three hours. It recedes after this period but remains present with a couple of foot projection.
The sillage is as good. The more you move around, the better Acqua di Gio EDP projects and smells. Unfortunately, it’s not dense enough to leave a long scent trail. This performance is with five sprays.
When Should I Wear Acqua di Gio EDP?
This is exclusively spring and summer wear. This is the biggest downfall of the fragrance. As for occasions, it is all. Sophisticated enough for formal occasions but casual and subtle enough for all other situations.
Will Acqua di Gio EDP Get Compliments?
The mass appeal and likability are excellent.
This is a great fragrance for attention as the aroma is so alluring. There are also no decisive notes, and it has subtle projection. This allows others around you to experience your aroma but not become consumed by it.
Is Acqua di Gio EDP Unique?
Lastly, the uniqueness is average. The EDP version has some tweaks from the line, but it’s mostly just a combination of Profondo and the EDT version.
Final Words
Acqua di Gio EDP doesn’t have any dupes. Yet, it is most similar to the EDT and Profondo versions.
The final burning question is, is Acqua di Gio EDP worth it? And is it redundant to own? Yes, it is worth the money. Compared to the EDT, it is a modern and simplistic take; I would much rather have the EDP as it is more youthful.
However, compared to the Profondo version, it’s up in the air. They are very similar fragrances, and Profondo has slightly better performance. Try a sample of both and find which one you enjoy the most.
