Armani Code EDT vs. Dior Sauvage EDT

Armani Code vs. Dior Sauvage (2023) Full Comparison

Armani Code vs. Dior Sauvage.

Two of the most popular and attractive scents for men.

In this review, I will compare their smell, performance, and anything else you need to know. At the end, I’ll tell you my final thoughts on which will be best for you.

Armani Code EDT

The opening starts sweet with fruity notes at the forefront. In the background, they are supported by citrus, leather, and tobacco nuances. The first half an hour to hour has a soft & creamy faucet. This is attributed most to Tonka Bean, that peaks in and out.

The fruits fade over time. Leather, citruses, and spicy anise take the lead while tonka bean and tobacco sit in the background with sweetness and warmth. The anise and citruses are an interesting duo of fresh spices that grab attention.

The heart of the fragrance doesn’t have any note additions. However, it moves away from the sweets and spices in a darker and cleaner direction.

Wood adds to the base with a fresh and smoky edge. The rest of the wear is leather, creamy tonka bean, and tobacco, with lingering citruses and spices all sitting atop a wood base.

Code EDT lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate to light projection. It pushes out an arm’s length at its peak for the first three hours. After this period, it recedes but maintains a one-foot ambiance for the rest of the wear. This is cool and cold weather wear for all occasions.

Dior Sauvage EDT

Right off the bat, it’s clean, fresh, and inviting. You’re definitely able to tell why it’s so highly complimented. Ambroxan is not at the forefront yet but is already playing a significant role. The top notes are:

  • Mainly sharp bergamot.
  • A decent dose of lavender.
  • A warm and spicy kick of Sichuan pepper.

Everything in the opening is intense. This is because they all need to be strong to balance out the prominence of ambroxan. As the scent develops, the sharpness gets smoother. The initial opening is the only part that’s strength knocks you off your seat.

After 20 minutes, bergamot fades, and more ambroxan fills the void. The spiced edge is also receding at this point. However, the scent retains the warmth and smoothness of pepper. Lavender with other supporting florals lingers in the mid. This combination is all about maintaining fresh and clean accents.

Ambroxan, by far and wide, is the dominant note in the dry down. The rest of the wear is mainly warm ambroxan, spice nuances, and a touch of cedar.

Dior Sauvage is an excellent performer lasting on the skin for 10 hours and filling a room. As for seasons and occasions, it is all. Take it lighter on the sprays in the warmer temperatures.

Final Words

The final burning question is, what is the better fragrance? For most people, Dior Sauvage EDT is the better choice. Both fragrances are high-quality and likable. However, Dior Sauvage EDT has much better performance and versatility.

Armani Code EDT is the better choice if you’re looking for a more unique fragrance that fewer men wear. These two are frequently compared, but they are two completely different fragrances.

After you try Dior Sauvage and Armani Code, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
