Acqua di Gio Parfum.
The discontinued Profumo’s replacement.
Acqua di Gio Parfum was released in 2023. It is based on aromatics, marine, and wood accords. It lasts eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Acqua di Gio Parfum Smell Like?
The opening is an intense blast of aromatics. There is a degree of sweetness with herbal and green accents. Much of this comes from the three mid-notes. I smell citric bergamot, but it’s not as prominent as the aromatics.
In the background, there is an aquatic freshness. Like Profumo, it has more cool saltiness than refreshing aquatics. The mid stays similar to the opening with fresh aromatics. There is a slightly earthy patchouli note creeping up from the base. It gives a decent woody depth to the fragrance.
The dry down is simple. The woody patchouli gets stronger while a decent dose of incense from olibanum is added. Much of the aromatics have faded but left their freshness. The rest of the wear is fresh wood and incense.

Performance
The performance is eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. The initial hour has an arm’s length of projection, but after this period, it recedes to about a two-foot ambiance for the rest of the wear. This performance is with five sprays.
This is best for spring and summer wear but still performs in cooler temperatures. At the time of writing, its own been 60 degrees plus every time I’ve worn it. As the temperatures drop into the fall and winter, I think this will still be wearable, just not on the coldest days.
As for occasions, Parfum is great for everything. It’s never overwhelming, has a sophisticated aroma, and easy-to-wear. The mass appeal and likability are excellent. This is for all the reasons mentioned above. I have yet to get a compliment with it, but this is definitely an aroma that will garner them.
Lastly, the uniqueness is slightly above-average. It’s essentially Profumo reinvented with the same Acqua di Gio DNA. This stands out above other aromatic and aquatic fragrances but is nothing ground-breaking.
Acqua di Gio Parfum vs. Profumo
Parfum’s best “dupe” is by far Profumo. Just compare the bottles and names. So how do they compare? They deviate the most in the opening. There is a sweeter greenness and aromatic nature in the Parfum version. The mid of Parfum remains fresher for longer because of a lack of incense earlier in the wear.
The dry-down of the two fragrances is virtually the same, as well as the performance. In short, it’s safe to say Parfum is Profumo rebottled.
Where SHould I Buy Acqua di Gio parfum?
Final Words
Acqua di Gio Parfum is worth it. This is an easy recommendation. Before the Profumo version was discontinued, it was regarded as the best Acqua di Gio fragrance. Now that Parfum is here, it inadvertently has become the best from the line.
I enjoy that the opening is fresher and remains so for longer. However, I miss the incense that came more quickly, but… this is what we have now, so go check it, guys; it’s even blind buy-worthy.
After you try Acqua di Gio Parfum, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
