#8 – Boss The Scent

The opening starts with zingy ginger spice and sweeter fruit notes in the background. I enjoy that the sweetness is never sugary, remaining a charming and alluring ambiance for its lifespan. There are fresher citruses underneath that help liven up the scent.

The mid retains the hefty dose of ginger and will do so for the rest of the wear. The light citruses from the opening weaken; 15 minutes into the wear, they are nearly non-existent. A leathery and lavender combination sneaks up from the base, giving the fragrance depth.

Prominent leather leads the base with remaining ginger and lavender with woody nuances. You’ll smell this for the rest of the wear but with a degree of freshness and warm sweetness.

Boss The Scent lasts four to five hours on the skin with weak projection. It pushes out a foot or two for the first hour. After this period, it becomes a skin scent for the rest of the wear. This is spring, fall, and winter. I recommend taking it lighter on the sprays in the warmer weather. As for occasions, it is for special events.

#7 – Hugo Energise

The opening is all about citruses. There isn’t one in particular, just a general idea. Spicy pink pepper and smooth nutty/cocoa-like nutmeg are in the background. Neither spice is in your face; both emphasize the fragrance’s freshness.

Within a couple of minutes, clean and cool mint balances out the warmth of the spices. As the dry down develops, it is all about fresh accords. The base finishes with a leathery depth, lingering citrus, and pink pepper. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

This routinely lasts three hours on the skin with hardly any projection. The first half an hour, it pushes off the skin. After this period, it is a skin scent for the rest of the wear. This is exclusively for spring and summer wear for casual occasions.

#6 – Hugo Man

The opening is exceptionally green and aromatic. I mainly smell a slightly spicy mint with lavender and other green notes. In the background are hints of a slight fruity apple. The nice thing about the apple note is its refreshing nature.

The apple comes and goes throughout the mid. The lavender maintains an aromatic nature. The woods from the base are sneaking up and giving the heart depth.

Into the base, the lavender becomes more prominent. However, the overarching emphasis is to amplify the freshness and cleanness of the fragrance. The dry down is simple. Amplified coniferous woods from pine and balsam fir.

Hugo Man lasts five to six hours on the skin with light projection. The first two hours, it pushes out a couple of feet. After this period, it recedes to a skin scent for the rest of the wear. This is spring, summer, and fall wear. As for occasions, it is best suited for casual and office wear.

#5 – Just Different

Lots of crisp and juicy apple notes lead the opening. They are paired with a fresh blast of cool mint. The general idea of the first five minutes is green freshness. After the first few minutes, basil is added, making the scent exponentially more green.

This greenness is what you’ll smell for a large majority of the wear. Later in the wear, there’s a patchouli base note that is earthier and greener than woody. Slightly resinous tinges help balance the rest of the fragrance. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

The longevity ranges from five to six hours with moderate to light projection. The first one to two hours pushes out a couple of feet. After this period, it becomes a skin scent for the rest of the wear. This is spring, summer, and fall wear for casual situations.

#4 – Boss Bottled

The opening is all about the signature Hugo Boss Apple. Cinnamon Spice plays second fiddle in the background. I get an apple pie aroma, but not too sweet. A tart plum note pairs with the apple. This takes the opening in a fruitier rather than sweet direction.

The prominence of the top notes doesn’t last long. A decent dose of vanilla pushes plum and apple into the backseat. It brings warm sandalwood and cedar with it. As the dry down develops, it solidifies into equal parts wood and vanilla with wafts of apple and cinnamon.

This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear. It is sweet but charming and smooth rather than sugary.

The performance is the biggest downfall. It lasts five to six hours on the skin with light projection. The first hour has decent multiple feet projection. After this period, it slowly recedes, eventually becoming a skin scent in the last hour of wear. As for seasons and occasions, it is all, but I recommend spraying less in the summer heat.

#3 – The Scent Private Accord

The cocoa note is strong from the get-go. It pairs with a prominent ginger spice and pepper undertone. This gives it enough spice for a “punch,” but nothing that becomes overwhelming. In the background is a fruity nuance that lingers the entire wear.

The spiciness subsides in the heart while coffee fills its void. Together, coffee and cocoa create an exceptional gourmand mixture. Later, a dry vanilla pushes out the coffee accord, bringing patchouli.

The dry-down finishes with powdery cocoa and the intensity of warm spices. Woody patchouli, vanilla, and fruits remain but never amount to much. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

This lasts eight hours on the skin with above-average projection. The first few hours are intense. After this period, it weakens to a light ambiance for the rest of the wear. As for occasions, it is fall and winter wear for special occasions.

#2 – The Scent Absolute

The opening starts with fresh spices. Dominant ginger and various other fresh spices. The ginger is more bold and aggressive than in most Hugo Boss scents. However, it’s so well-balanced that it only works to the fragrance’s advantage.

In the background, a lemony and fruity warmth helps break up the intensity of the ginger. After a few minutes, there’s a uniqueness to the fruity accord. It smells partially fermented, giving the heart a boozy and playful aroma.

The spices fade in the dry down. The scent is left with vetiver and fruits. The vetiver isn’t all about its woody accent; earthy and smoky faucets are mixed into the note. This is what you’ll get for the rest of the wear.

The longevity ranges from eight to nine hours with above-average to moderate projection. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for the first few hours. After this period, it recedes to a soft ambiance for the rest of the wear. This is exclusively fall and winter wear for special occasions.

#1 – Bottled Intense EDP

The opening is all about the signature Hugo Boss Green Apple with a citric and bubblegum accent in the background. There are warm spices in the opening, but nothing to write home about.

The fruity opening gives way to a warm, spicy heart. The spices in the background at the beginning leap to the forefront. Cinnamon leads the way, with cloves following close behind. Does this smell have an apple pie aroma? Yes. Especially when vanilla creeps up from the base.

The dry down simplifies. The spices and vanilla are in equal parts with a warm, woody depth. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

The performance is excellent. Eight to ten hours on the skin with moderate but consistent projection. The first three to four hours create a two to three-foot scent bubble. After this period, it recedes to a mild ambiance for the rest of the wear. This is spring, fall, and winter wear for all occasions.
