Best Office Colognes for Men

#7 – Dior Homme EDT (2020)

Dior Homme 2020 took on some heat when it was first launched. This is because it diverges from the loved original Dior Homme DNA. Besides what some may say, Dior Homme 2020 is better and more attention-grabbing.

Dior Homme 2020 is easy to wear and an attention magnet. The opening is fresh with sweet and spicy undertones. Luckily, if you are not into ultra-sweet fragrances, Dior Homme 2020 has you covered.

The mild sweetness and spice linger in the background for the rest of the wear. As the scent develops, there is a warm, fresh, modern wood base.

To pay tribute to the original Dior Homme, Dior Homme 2020 has a hint of iris. This helps break up the prominently wood base with its powdery texture.

Dior Homme 2020 is easy to wear, regardless of season or occasion. You spray it on, and you’re ready for the day.

It lasts 8 – 10 hours on my skin and projects a scent bubble of multiple feet for a couple of those.

#6 – Mont Blanc Explorer

Upon the first spray is a blast of semi-sweet, fruity bergamot. After about 5 minutes, the scent starts to smell more like Aventus. Bergamot fades, and a heavy dose of ambroxan and woody notes peak through.

Ambroxan adds a noticeably synthetic smell, but both notes emphasize a woody accord. Explorer is a straightforward scent. Any other notes in the fragrance only amplify the fruity opening or woody dry down.

Does Mont Blanc Explorer’s scent profile smell like Creed Aventus? It has the bare bones of it. Both have a fruity opening, but Aventus is known for its juicy, tangy pineapple opening.

As for the dry down, Explorer lacks the signature smoky birch. So, yes, similar scent DNA, but 9 times out 10, people can tell the difference.

This lasts seven hours on the skin, with average projection. It pushes out two to three feet for the first two hours. After this period, it becomes a skin scent. This is all-season and occasion wearable.

#5 – Chanel Egoiste Platinum

So you’re looking for a men’s cologne that exudes, “I know what I’m doing with my life.” Chanel Egoiste Platinum is for you; it’s cold as metal and sharp as a blade.

Egoiste platinum is all about its herbal and aromatic nature. The opening is equal parts greens, neroli, and lavender. None of this trio is dominant over the others, but all work in unison to create a fresh soap aroma.

Your typical squeaky clean barbershop vibe.

After 10-15 minutes, the green and herbal nature are amplified. Followed by the addition of spicy and woody nuances. This takes the scent in a drier and more outdoorsy direction.

Vetiver is the dominant woody note. While still retaining a degree of greenness. Touches of cedar and sandalwood linger in the background. Both are supported by woody notes.

Fresh and soapy lavender has carried into the dry down. Accompanied by equal parts of woody notes and a nuance of greenness.

The scent is more mature and refined, best suited for middle-aged men and older. Yet, it’s not so sophisticated that a younger guy can’t wear it. It is extremely likable but not compliment-getting.

You wear this because you know you smell clean and classy, not because you want compliments. It struggles in the winter but does well for all other seasons and occasions.

#4 – Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

Grey Vetiver is the best Tom Ford perfume for spring. It was released in 2009 and is known for its sunniness and elegance.

Bright and uplifting grapefruit awakens your senses and sparkles off your skin. In the first few minutes, grapefruit takes the lead. Yet, vetiver is still prevalent in the background.

Now, this is a vetiver scent done well. It never comes off as piercing or assaulting my nose, as some vetivers do.

Instead, it is green with soapy cleanliness.

Over time vetiver gains more and more prominence. Always maintaining a smooth and creamy balance with grapefruit. Into the mid, Grey vetiver picks up slightly green and herbaceous spicy qualities. They are subtle but still present.

Woody notes emerge in the dry-down. Mostly, they are there to add a masculine depth to the grapefruit and vetiver mixture.

The performance is of a gentleman-like quality and has all-season versatility. You can spray heavily in colder temperatures. But for a few reasons, you’re better off saving this one for the spring and summer.

#3 – YSL L’Homme EDT

Suppose you needed a gentleman’s fragrance. But only wanted it from Yves-Saint Laurent.

In that case, you’ve come to the right place. L’Homme is the type of cologne that isn’t the best at anything but is good at everything. To be clear, that is not a dig at the fragrance.

L’Homme is a gentleman’s fragrance. This means it has an inoffensive smell, is masculine, and doesn’t project too heavily. The most prominent notes are ginger, spices, and tonka bean.

The opening is fresh and citrusy, like a cool breeze on a warm day, with a delightful amount of lemon. Along with the lemon is ginger; it is not abrasive but unique.

It breaks up the monotony of the lemon with an exciting kick. Into the base, L’Homme is warm and spicy; most of this aroma comes from tonka bean.

The performance is good enough to get through an entire workday. Yet, the smell won’t consume your coworkers. One of the better parts about is it’s all-occasion versatility.

L’Homme can be a blind buy. When you wear it, it will be discovered, not announced. I am confident you won’t be disappointed.

#2 – Prada L’Homme EDT

Just imagine you’re in a rush and need a fragrance that is easy to wear. The clock is ticking, and you can’t make a decision. Then Boom! You see it, Prada L’Homme. The perfect scent that works for any situation.

The opening is extremely clean, and a bright blast of pink pepper quickly turns into florals. Nuances of pink pepper are still there but fade to the edges.

Within a few minutes, the iris becomes powdery and has a slightly sweet tinge. The scent stays like this for some time, always retaining an ultra-fresh and clean nature.

The dry-down is developed after a few hours and is an entirely different scent. At this point, all of the florals have faded. A creamy woody accord is left and still has a clean nature.

One fascinating aspect of Prada L’Homme is that it will mix with your sweat when you’re working out.

Almost every time I work out, I will be 7 hours into the wear, and as I sweat, I’m enveloped with a creamy woody aroma. This attests to its remarkable longevity.

The projection is average for 7-8 hours but then dies down to a skin scent and/or dissipates completely. It is an all-season or occasion wear but doesn’t perform well on the coldest days of winter.

#1 – Guerlain Heritage EDT

This is the perfect scent for someone who wants to be able to easily wear this. Why? There are woods, spices, aromatics. The main idea is fresh and woody.

The beginning is all about freshness. There is lavender, herbal smells, and light citruses. As the scent develops, there are more spices, and the woods are getting more intense.

By the time the scent is done changing, this fragrance is all about fresh woods but not in the way of citruses. It is an aromatic freshness.

This is a long laster, but the scent bubble is never too intense. This is perfect for wearing at a special event but works just as well casually.

As for seasons, just be careful in the warmer months.

Final Words
