#3 – Bvlgari Man in Black

The opening is a heavy blend of spices and rum. Starting the fragrance with an invigorating masculine intensity. The spices are retained for the entire wear, later fusing with leather and tobacco. Eventually, the spices’ dominance over the scent starts to fade.

As this happens, sweetness and warmth begin to fill the void. The top notes were always warm, but not to this extent. At this point, the sweet rum is sexy and attention-grabbing rather than sugary and candy-like.

Once in the dry down, a lot is going on. Sexy and sweet rum remains from the opening, and prominent leather has lasted. This duo sits on a strong woody base and gets washed over by a warm amber. This never makes the scent too dark, the perfect blend between sexy and masculine.

The performance is slightly above average. It lasts eight to nine hours on the skin. The projection is on the weaker side but intense. On a date, this will be discovered, not announced.

This is exclusively a cold weather fragrance, becoming extremely overpowering in high temperatures. Finally, what’s the best aspect of Bvlgari Man in Black? It’s very unique and likable.

#2 – Initio Parfums Prives Rehab

The opening is most similar to Spicebomb Extreme. It is all about dry black pepper spice. The spices are intense and in your face but never off-putting. Like Spicebomb Extreme, Rehab has a way of overwhelming you with spices but blending them.

The spices gradually weaken into the mid, and lavender makes its way in. As the scent develops, it is all about lavender in the dry down. Creamy sandalwood plays second fiddle in the background. Vanilla and tobacco nuances linger.

The rest of the wear is lavender and wood with spice, tobacco, and vanilla nuances.

The longevity is in the six to seven-hour range with moderate projection. The first three hours push out an arm’s length. After this period, it is a subtle ambiance until the end. Once the lavender and woods take over the scent, the projection fades.

This is spring, fall, and winter wear for all occasions. It is better for formal occasions and dates than Spicebomb Extreme, as the lavender is classier and more sophisticated.

#1 – Cremo Spice and Black Vanilla

The opening is led by an intense dose of cardamom. It is slightly peppery and not as smooth as in fragrances like YSL La Nuit de L’Homme EDT. However, it’s never off-putting. Within moments, it’s enveloped by warm vanilla.

This is an excellent combination as both are warm and smooth. This combination will dominate into the mid, maintaining the perfect balance between sweet and subdued.

After one to two hours, the vanilla gains a powdery accent. While light vetiver nuances linger into the base and give the fragrance added depth. Vetiver is equal parts woody and slightly aromatic.

The prevalence of cardamom has faded into the base, but the scent retains the invigoring spice. While the vanilla dominates with woody nuances for the rest of the wear.

Spice and Black Vanilla lasts five hours on the skin with light projection. The first spray pushes out a couple of feet and remains present for the rest of the wear. This is fall and winter wear for all occasions.

Final Words

There’s only one worth buying? Yes. If you’re looking for a Spicebomb Extreme clone, my guess is that you want a more affordable fragrance, and rightfully so. Spice and Black Vanilla is only $20. Obviously, your best bet, considering the other two are as expensive or more expensive.

Does this make Rehab and Man in Black not worth it? No. They are great fragrances in their own respect, with similar aromas to Spicebomb Extreme. However, as replacements for Spicebomb Extreme, I don’t recommend them.

After you try a Spicebomb Extreme clone, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
