What Does Bond No. 9 Lafayette Street Smell Like?
Do you know the Sour Patch Kid commercials that show them being sour and then sweet?
The same idea here. It starts with an authentic bergamot note. It has the tartness and “spice” of a real bergamot; it’s as if they juiced one for this fragrance.
Well, where’s the sweetness? It comes from the fruity addition of apple. It’s less prominent but adds a nice balance. As the scent develops, it gains a floral faucet.
It is reminiscent of floral apple shampoo – odd description, I know. This may not sound appealing, but the main idea is clean and soapy.
Weakened floral and apple notes linger into the dry-down.
Smooth vanilla and a tidal wave of ambroxan take over the rest of the wear. It’s an interesting dynamic as the top and middle are light and summer-focused. The base is deeper and less what you’d think of in the summer.
The ambroxan and vanilla with lingering top notes are what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

Lafayette Street Performance
The performance is just as good as the smell. Lafayette St. lasts eight hours on the skin with above-average projection.
It pushes out multiple feet for multiple hours before receding. This mostly has to do with the vanilla and amber base that gives additional strength.
The vanilla and amber help the wearability as well. Vanilla gives Lafayette St. an alluring touch, making it great for formal occasions. But with the lowkey top notes, it’s also great for casual wear without being too overpowering.
This can be worn for all seasons. Usually, when I look at the scent breakdown, I can usually accurately guess the fragrance smell and versatility, but this is a pleasant surprise.
Lafayette St. works just as well in the high heat of the summer as in the coldest winter lows.
Lastly, the mass appeal and likability are amazing. The top notes have a unique mixture, and the base notes have an alluring blend proven to be an attention magnet in many other fragrances.
Bond No 9 Lafayette Street Clones
The best clone of Lafayette Street is Desire for a Man Alfred Dunhill. It’s a similar fragrance with apple, bergamot, and vanilla notes.
But the biggest difference is its lack of a prominent amber note. It is certainly more affordable but lacks some of what makes Lafayette Street so wearable.
Is Lafayette Street Worth it?
Bond No 9 has some fragrances that are up in the air. They’ve been criticized before for using synthetic-smelling ingredients and charging niche prices. But this is not the case here.
Lafayette Street is a versatile and a quality blend of notes.
One of the best from the brand. I enjoy this fragrance as it has many qualities of a blue fragrance but is still unique enough that most people wouldn’t immediately recognize it as such.
