Bond No 9 New York Oud Review – Everything You Need To Know

New York Oud.

A wearable and sensual oud fragrance for men and women.

Bond No 9 New York Oud was released in 2011. It is based on oud, rose, and sweet fruits. It lasts 12 hours on the skin with room-filling projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Bond No 9 New York Oud Smell Like?

It is a layered scent with three distinct personalities. A harsh plum note leads the opening. It is sweet and fruity with “nose-puckering” tartness. Bond No. 9 describes it as “ready to rumble.” Well, I can attest that the plum woke up my senses!

In the background are undertones of orange zest and honey. Don’t worry; the orange zest doesn’t make it more tart. It soothes the aroma and maintains the citric, fruity aroma.

The honey note is a welcomed addition. It is fun and smooth. The needed touch to stop the opening from becoming off-putting. It adds sweetness, but nothing more intense than the plum’s sweetness.

This interesting opening leads to the second personality. The mid projects intense florals, pairing with the sweeter top notes. It doesn’t seem like a major change, but it changes the idea of the scent.

The dry down is quick to add sultry oud and leather with musky nuances. There are lingering florals and top notes. Yet, I pick up on an animalistic musk and honey combination most. The rest of the wear is oud, leather, and a musk/honey duo.

Performance

New York Oud lasts 12 hours on the skin with excellent projection. For the opening, mid, and large portion of the dry-down, the projection fills a room with a six-foot projection. The scent trail is as good. The more you move around, the more this pushes out, the better it smells. This performance is with three sprays.

This is exclusively late fall and winter wear when cooler temperatures can moderate strength. I haven’t tried this in the spring or summer, but I know this becomes too overwhelming, even in the mild temperatures of the fall. So, I doubt it would fair well. You’ll get three months of wear in a four-season climate.

As for occasions, it is all but office and other close-quarter settings. This is solely because the projection is too loud.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are above-average. This is an oud fragrance geared for mass appeal and seductiveness. It is unique and stands out, but it doesn’t take it so far that it is decisive.

Final Words

New York Oud is worth a sample or decant. The best part about the fragrance is that it’s a wearable oud fragrance. It’s not the best beginner’s oud fragrance. But this is an excellent choice if you’re looking for one with a more sensual twist.
