Bvlgari Man in Black

Bvlgari Man In Black (2023) Full Review – Your New Date Night Scent

Man in Black.

A dark and mysterious masculine fragrance.

Bvlgari Man in Black was released in 2014. It is based on spices, wood, leather, and rum. It lasts nine hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Bvlgari Man in Black Smell Like?

The opening is a heavy blend of spices and rum. Starting the fragrance with an invigorating masculine intensity. The spices are retained for the entire wear, later fusing with leather and tobacco. Eventually, the spices’ dominance over the scent starts to fade.

As this happens, sweetness and warmth begin to fill the void. The top notes were always warm, but not to this extent. At this point, the sweet rum is sexy and attention-grabbing rather than sugary and candy-like.

Once in the dry down, a lot is going on. Sexy and sweet rum remains from the opening, and prominent leather has lasted. This duo sits on a strong woody base and gets washed over by a warm amber. This never makes the scent too dark, the perfect blend between sexy and masculine.

Performance

Man in Black lasts nine hours on the skin with intimate projection. This is often considered a downfall, but it’s a benefit; I’ll elaborate on this idea in a moment. In the first two hours, Man in Black pushes out up to two feet before receding and becoming a skin scent for the rest of the wear.

Even though the projection doesn’t push out far, it is extremely intense. This helps its sillage. The more you move around, the better this smells as it leaves a dense scent trail as you walk. This performance is with five sprays.

This is exclusively fall and winter wear. I wouldn’t push it in warmer temperatures as the intensity and sweetness of the rum will get too intense.

As for occasions, this is best worn for special occasions and, more specifically, dates. This is where the projection comes back to benefit. On a date, Man in Black will be discovered and not announced. This projection will bring your date closer and add to the mysterious allure of the scent profile.

The mass appeal and likability are excellent. The sweetness can get too cloying if applied too heavily. However, Man in Black is subtle enough that those around you could “escape” it if it were overwhelming.

Lastly, the uniqueness is slightly above average. It stands out among many other fragrances. However, there’s nothing special about rum, tobacco, spices, and leather. The boozy and masculine nature is found in many other date night scents.

Besuited Aroma gives Bvlgari Man in Black an 8.6 out of 10 rating.

Bvlgari Man in Black Dupes

The most similar fragrance is Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb. They both have significant doses of spices and tobacco. However, the leathery depth is nearly nonexistent in the Spicebomb. There is also no rum note in Spicebomb. This makes a big difference as rum is a major player in Bvlgari Man in Black.

Final Words

Is Bvlgari Man in Black worth it? Yes. This is an easy recommendation. I routinely go back and forth between this and YSL La Nuit de L’Homme EDT for date night. I enjoy this one as it has a very masculine combination of rum and leather.

After you try Bvlgari Man in Black, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
