Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EDT (2023) Full Review

Obsession for Men…

…🤢.

Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EDT was released in 1986. It is based on spices, wood, and amber. It lasts eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EDT Smell Like?

The opening is dominated by cinnamon spice and a trio of citruses: lime, mandarin, and tangerine. These are exceptionally bright and citric. In Perry Ellis 360 Red for Men, there is a nice citrus-cinnamon duo, but here it’s off-putting. Within a few minutes is an old-school lavender addition. This only makes the opening more off-putting.

The first 15 – 20 minutes are not great. The mid has warmer florals, and much of the top notes settle. The overarching emphasis in the heart is woodier and spicier.

The dry-down still has a hefty dose of cinnamon paired with warm amber and vanilla highlights. A better blend than previously, this is the part of the wear that makes it reasonable to wear. All sit atop a sandalwood base with lingering florals. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

Performance

Obsession for Men EDT lasts eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. The first couple of hours, it pushes out two to three feet. After this period, it recedes to a light ambiance for the rest of the wear.

The sillage is as good. As you move around, it will leave a scent trail but nothing that will fill a room. This performance is with three sprays.

This is fall and winter wear for all occasions except dates. This fragrance might actually chase them away. The mass appeal and likability? Below average. This is a low-quality mish, mash of notes.

Final Words

Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EDT is not worth it. I can usually handle old-school fragrances as a young guy, but this is the scent of your great-grandfather, and not in a good way. Other fragrances have pulled off this hefty dose of warm cinnamon and amber, but here it was not.

If you try Calvin Klein Obsession for Men EDP, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
