Creed Bois du Portugal

Creed Bois du Portugal Review – Do You Need it?

Bois du Portugal.

A lesser known, old-school Creed fragrance.

Creed Bois du Portugal was released in 1987. It is based on prominent woods, subtle aromatics, and lavender. It lasts ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Creed Bois du Portugal Smell Like?

Old-school from the start. There is a fleeting bergamot, giving the initial opening a bright, bitter touch. Within moments, lavender washes over the opening, creating old-school freshness. In simple terms, a barbershop cologne.

Lavender takes the scent in the mid. After 20-30 minutes, the citruses fade. Mature and green vetiver takes its place. It never comes off as earthy or dark. It gives a woody depth and fresh, aromatic nature that aligns with the barbershop faucet.

At this point, there are fleeting wafts of sandalwood in the background. They won’t come to the forefront until the scent has been on the skin for a couple of hours. After this period, it gets a power pump to dominate the scent. Touches of fresh lavender and green, aromatic vetiver play second fiddle.

This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

Performance

Bois do Portugal lasts ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. It pushes out an arm’s length for multiple hours before receding, never becoming a skin scent. I wear three to four sprays and get this performance.

This can be worn in all seasons, working best for the colder weather. You have to be careful on the warmer days of the summer as it can get intense; with spray moderation, you’ll be fine.

As for occasions, it is all. One of my favorite parts about this fragrance is its simplicity. It’s extremely versatile and pleasant enough for close-quarter settings. It still has a sophisticated touch that stands out for formal occasions and on dates.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are above average. A simple blend of prominent creamy and smooth sandalwood. This fragrance doesn’t shout for attention but garners it.

Creed Bois du Portugal CLones

The best clone is Lalique Pour Homme. Both fragrances have a dominant woody accord with aromatic and lavender nuances. However, Lalique Pour Homme has a more prominent citrus accord in the opening and a powderiness to the lavender. They have similar versatility and performance, but Lalique Pour Homme is a tenth of the price.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Creed Bois du Portugal worth it? Yes, this is one of the better Creeds mainly because of its simplicity and versatility.

If you’re looking for an ultra-unique fragrance that will turn heads and make people say, “Oh, never smelled that one before,” this is not a great choice for you.

But this is a great choice if you want an easy-to-wear fragrance that is a showstopper for all events.

The only con. Its old-school aroma better fits middle-aged and older men. If you are a younger guy, it would be better to buy a sample before blind buying a full bottle.

Bois du Portugal is an excellent cologne and the best from the brand. Yet, don’t just limit yourself to Bois du Portugal. Check out the best Creed colognes for men. All the highest quality fragrances for men; you might just find your signature scent.
