Original Vetiver.
The best Vetiver fragrance from the Creed brand.
Creed Original Vetiver was released in 2004. It is based on citruses and woody aromatics. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Creed Original Vetiver Smell Like?
Upon the first spray is a dominant pair of bergamot and mandarin with ginger spice. Like real ginger, it has a “hot” quality that is so exciting.
Initially, there is a green tinge, but nothing too extreme. I was surprised there wasn’t an initial tidal wave of Vetiver.
Give the scent a few minutes; it will come through with power. The green spices and citrus turn into an overdose of Vetiver.
Once it comes to the forefront, it is the star of the show for the rest of the wear. It never comes across as sharp, grassy, or abrasive to my nose as many vetivers do.
Instead, it is clean and refreshing. The citruses in the opening certainly help out in this respect.
For the rest of the wear, it is mostly Vetiver and has a less prevalent woody backbone. The woodiness isn’t anything to write home about it. It is just there for support.

Performance
The performance is slightly above average but nothing to write home about.
It lasts eight hours on the skin with average and consistent projection. Pushing out a few feet for the first few hours before receding. The best part about the performance is that it’s extremely office-safe.
Original Vetiver is spectacular in the spring and summer but struggles in the fall and winter. No matter how heavily sprayed, it doesn’t work in cooler temperatures.
As for occasions, it works for everything and anything. The projection is light and pleasant enough for close-quarter settings while still sophisticated enough for formal events.
This is an ultra-likable fragrance but not ultra-complimented. Most will only enjoy that you smell good and unique rather than alluring.
What is the Best Creed Original Vetiver Clone?
Mugler Cologne by Mugler is the best clone of Original Vetiver. It has the same citric opening but not the same woody dry-down. Mugler Cologne actually doesn’t have a vetiver note.
So, if you buy Mugler cologne, it’s a clone of the opening, not the entire wear of Original Vetiver.
Final Words
Creed Vetiver is worth it. This is a great choice if you’re looking for an easy-to-wear office-safe fragrance. It has a gentleman-like aroma that is masculine and present but with a delicate touch.
As a Creed fragrance, it is pricey, but you’re getting a high-quality men’s cologne.
