Bois D’Argent.
An underrated niche fragrance from Dior.
Dior Bois d’Argent was released in 2004. It is based on woods, amber, and iris. It lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Dior Bois D’Argent Smell Like?
The first spray is mostly honey. It is airy yet never too sweet. I think of it as charming and sensual. Next is a dry iris background and a fresh tinge. The iris in here never gets lipsticky like the 2011 Dior Homme.
The top notes melt in the middle with a blended mix of woody accords. Most of the time, I can pick out sandalwood, but it’s still never prominent. The woody accords will subtly sit in the background for the rest of the wear.
Dry vanilla and amber accompany the dry-down. They mix with the sweet honey that has carried over. At this point, the scent gets warmer and sweeter, adding creamy faucets. All while still retaining the subtle woody base.

Performance
Bois D’Argent lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. Right from the start, it pushes out a foot and keeps this light ambiance for most of the wear. The sillage doesn’t fair much better. It keeps the same projection. If you move around, it still doesn’t push out much. This performance is with three sprays.
This is great for all seasons. You’ll have to apply slightly heavier on the coldest days of winter and lighter on the hottest days of summer. Besides this, it’s a moderately versatile fragrance. You’ll get ten months of wear in a four-season climate.
As for occasions, it is for special events like dates and formal occasions. With the intimate projection, you could argue it’s for all occasions but with the uniqueness of the scent profile and price. I’m not sure you’d want to use it as everyday wear.
Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent. The sweet but subtle honey note in the fragrance makes Bois D’Argent stand out above many other fragrances. On top of this, the subtle projection is pleasant, as it never comes off as overpowering. Easy for everyone to enjoy without being overwhelmed.
Dior Bois D’Argent Clones
There are a few Bois D’Argent clones. Based on fragrantica, the most similar is Bois d’Iris Van Cleef & Arpels. These are great clones of each other. The only difference is that Bois d’Iris doesn’t have a honey sweetness. Instead, the sweetness is provided by an actual sugar note. Bois d’Iris is also a women’s perfume.
Final Words
Dior Bois D’Argent is sample worthy but not worth a full bottle. This is an artisanally crafted fragrance, but the performance and versatility could be better for the price point. Many other fragrances on the market have a romantic aroma like this and are either more wearable or affordable.
Buying a 5 or 10-mL decant of this would be the best way to go.
If you try Dior Bois D’Argent, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
