Table of Contents
#5 – Zara Aromatic Future
This smells exactly like Dior Sauvage, except the first ten minutes slightly differ. The citruses are less prominent. There’s still an intense black pepper note; it mixes with ambroxan. In Sauvage, the spice mixes with citrus, and the ambroxan is not present as quickly. After this, it is almost 1:1 with Sauvage but weaker.
Its biggest downfall is its poor performance. I got up to four hours on the skin every time I tested it. The projection is weak. It pushed out the first hour before receding to a skin scent for the rest of the wear.
It is still all occasion versatile. However, it’s too weak to last in the colder fall and winter temperatures.
Aromatic Future is one of the closest replicas of Dior Sauvage, but you’ll have to determine if the poor performance and versatility are worth it.
Zara Aromatic Future Performance
- Longevity: 4 hours
- Projection and Sillage: Intiamte
- Versatility: Spring & Summer for all occasions
- Most Prominent Notes: Bergamote, Black Pepper, and Ambroxan
#4 – Armaf Hunter Intense
The opening has bright bergamot with subtle pink pepper. The initial opening is similar, but as it develops, there are additions of sweet florals that give the fragrance a degree of sweetness for the rest of the wear.
People often say it smells like Dior Sauvage mixed and Paco Rabanne Invictus as it dries. I do understand where this idea is coming from. The base of Hunter Intense has the same heavy ambroxan note with woody accents, but there is the addition of an aquatic accord. This is what you’ll get for the rest of the wear.
The performance is eight hours on the skin with okay projection. The first three to four hours, it pushes out well. After this period, it recedes and becomes a skin scent for the rest of the wear.
The versatility is nearly as good as Dior Sauvage. It can be worn in all seasons and occasions. You’ll have to apply heavier in the winter, as it does struggle.
Armaf Hunter Intense Performance
- Longevity: 8 hours
- Projection and Sillage: Moderate
- Versatility: All seasons and occasions
- Most Prominent Notes: Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Florals, Ambroxan, and Aquatics
#3 – Armaf Club de Nuit Urban Elixir
The opening five minutes is 1:1 with Sauvage. After this initial blast, Urban Elixir heads in a fruiter direction. There’s still aromatics and lavender in the mid but just with a fruity tinge. In the dry down, it replicates Sauvage again. It’s a heavy dose of ambroxan with musky and woody nuances.
The performance is eight to ten hours on the skin with excellent projection. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for the first three to four hours. After this period, it recedes but maintains a mild ambiance. The versatility is just as good as Sauvage.
Club de Nuit Urban Elixir differs more than the #4 and #5 clones in the mid. However, if you’re looking for the same intensity and blend of ambroxan in the base, this is the scent for you. It’s also a better performer than the ones above.
Armaf Club de Nuit Urban Elixir Performance
- Longevity: 8 – 10 hours
- Projection and Sillage: Moderate
- Versatility: All seasons and occasions
- Most Prominent Notes: Lavender, Fruits, Ambroxan, Musk, and Woods
#2 – Armaf Ventana Pour Homme
The initial 15 minutes is the only part that differs. It opens with more citrus and less pepper. The citruses are a bitter lemon and tangy mandarin orange with fruity nuances. After this period, you’ll still get the aromatic lavender and, eventually, the signature Sauvage dry-down.
This lasts six to eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. It pushes out an arm’s length for the first three to four hours. It recedes, never becoming a skin scent. The versatility is as good as Sauvage.
This is a better replica than Club de Nuit Urban Elixir as it spends less time deviating from the Sauvage DNA but still with excellent performance.
Armaf Ventana Pour Homme Performance
- Longevity: 6 – 8 hours
- Projection and Sillage: Moderate
- Versatility: Spring & Summer for all occasions
- Most Prominent Notes: Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Lavender, Ambroxan, and Musk
#1 – Prada Luna Rossa Carbon
Ambroxan, bergamot, and lavender lead the opening. The bergamot is the strongest in the first five minutes and fades into the background. Ambroxan has a slight metallic nature and will retain this tone for the rest of the wear.
I particularly enjoy this. The citrus contrasts nicely with the more “abrasive” pepper and metallic tone. Yet, don’t worry; neither is overpowering. Into the mid, lavender gains strength and brings a shaving cream aroma.
It is not a 1:1 comparison, but the key here is that it is exceptionally clean. For a large portion of the scent, it is the focal point. Lavender is retained into the dry down, along with dominant ambroxan. Both work hand in hand to provide a mass-appealing, rounded, and clean aroma.
The performance is seven to eight hours on the skin with average projection. It pushes out an arm’s length for hours before receding, never becoming a skin scent. The versatility is as good as Sauvage.
Prada Luna Rossa Carbon Performance
- Longevity: 7 – 8 hours
- Projection and Sillage: Moderate
- Versatility: Spring & Summer for all occasions
- Most Prominent Notes: Ambroxan, Bergamot, Lavender, and Pepper
Final Words
If you are looking for dupes, my guess is you’re looking for a cheaper Sauvage alternative. #2 – #5 will be your best bet, as they are about a third of the price. Luna Rossa Carbon is the best and highest quality but is at a price similar to Sauvage.
These will garner the same attention as Sauvage, as they are all great clones. I’d love to hear your favorite Dior Sauvage dupes in the comments.
