F Black.
An old-school lavender and masculine fragrance.
F Black Salvatore Ferragamo was released 2009. It is based on fresh spices, lavender, and subtle amber. It lasts nine hours on the skin with slightly above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does F Black Smell Like?
The first spray is attention-grabbing. There is an equal blast of sharp black pepper and lavender. The pepper isn’t “sneeze-inducing,” but it sure is invigorating. Think of it like jumping into a cold shower. It provides a nice contrast to the calm and classy lavender.
For the rest of the wear, this duo dominates.
As the scent progresses, there are additions of crisp apple and tonka bean nuances. Both are fresh and sweet. Yet, the idea of each is to amplify the qualities of lavender. As the dry down develops, lavender becomes dominant and more complex.
At first, it came across as fresh and sweet, but now that the pepper has faded, it gains clean and soapy qualities. The rest of the wear is all about classy lavender with its new accents. Everything from the top and mid is just supporting nuances.

Performance
F Black lasts nine hours on the skin with moderate projection. It pushes out multiple feet for the first three hours, leaving a long scent trail. After this period, it recedes closer to the skin but never becomes a skin scent.
This is best worn in the fall, winter, and spring. The summer heat is too much for the lavender. You’ll get 8 to 9 months of wear if you live in a four-season climate.
And occasions, it is all. The projection is subtle enough to not overwhelm the office, and the aroma is sophisticated enough for special events. I specifically enjoy this for dates and formal occasions as the lavender has a classy and alluring aroma with a romantic appeal.
Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent for the abovementioned reasons. The projection is light. The aroma is classy and quality, an easy fragrance to get along with.
Final Words
F Black can be purchased for between 30 and $40. The final burning question is, is F Black by Salvatore Ferragamo worth it?
Depends on who you are. This is a classy and quality fragrance for an affordable price, but my biggest downfall as a younger guy in his 20s is that this is a mature scent. It has an old-school aroma that is not off-putting but doesn’t fit a younger guy’s taste.
If you are middle-aged and older, this is a great purchase. But younger guys are better off choosing a more youthful fragrance.
If you try F Black by Salvatore Ferragamo, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
