Givenchy Gentlemen Only

Givenchy Gentlemen Only Review (2023) – Do You Need It?

Gentlemen Only.

It is a simple and refined scent for men.

Givenchy Gentlemen Only was released in 2013. It is based on citruses, spices, and wood. It lasts four hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Givenchy Gentlemen Only Smell Like?

The opening starts with citric mandarin orange and pink pepper. The orange is less about its citric nature and instead amplifies the sweetness of pink pepper. In the background is a present but not prominent woodiness.

The overarching emphasis in the opening is slightly fresh, sweet, and spicy woods. The citruses fade as the mid develops, and a smoky incense fills its void. The Birch note comes through most as the dominant woody accord. Creed Aventus has smoky woods, but they aren’t the same here.

Smoky woods are the focal point for the rest of the wear. I smell a lot more vetiver in the base than birch and cedar. Vetiver retains the woody aroma but adds dark and earthy faucets to the smoky incense. The citruses and spices are gone but left a degree of freshness.

Fresh, smoky, and earthy woods are what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear. This is a very masculine fragrance but also simple and wearable.

Performance

I adore the smell of this fragrance but was greatly disappointed by the performance. Every time I’ve worn Gentlemen Only, the longevity is in the three to four-hour range with moderate projection. Almost the entire wear pushes out two to three feet; once the projection fades, so does the scent.

The sillage doesn’t fair any better. This is a light scent that can’t hang in the air well. It makes it nice for office wear as it will never become overwhelming. This performance is with five sprays.

This is spring, summer, and fall wear. I tried it in the winter, but the weak performance became non-existent sooner. As for occasions, it is all. I enjoy this for office wear because of the light projection. However, it is also a unique mix of notes, great for date nights or formal events.

The mass appeal and likability are above average. I don’t consider this a compliment beast, but it garners attention because it stands out. This translates to its above-average uniqueness.

Final Words

There is an intense version of this fragrance. However, the lack of performance was not fixed. The intense version is darker with prevalent amber and leather, but suffers from weak longevity and projection.

The final burning question is, is Givenchy Gentleman Only worth it? It depends. I love this scent. On Givenchy’s website, it is $108. I would pay full price for the scent profile without a second thought.

On the flip side, nothing erks me more than a fragrance that doesn’t last. On Amazon and discounters, it is $50. If below-average performance doesn’t bother you, go for it. If you like good performers, it’s sad you’ll have to let this go, but you’ll be disappointed if you don’t.

If you try Givenchy Gentlemen Only, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
