An emphasis of Gucci’s classy side.

What Does Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme Smell Like?

Zesty lemon and cypress lead the opening. The lemon is very fresh, bright, and crisp. While the cypress isn’t too woody yet. It contributes a degree of aromatic freshness that amplifies the citric lemon. But also contributes a subtle spice that is invigorating but not peppery.

The mid darkens. The citruses are present but weakening, while a green and woody core is taking its place. There is significant emphasis on the piney cypress. It lost its fresh aromatic nature and is now considerably woody.

The dry down is nearly fully developed after two hours. The citruses have faded, and the cypress is at the forefront. From the transition of mid to base, a strong tobacco accord snuck in; it’s in nearly equal parts with the woody accord.

A simple but sophisticated aroma.

Performance

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme lasts seven to eight hours on the skin with above-average projection. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for the first few hours before receding to a light ambiance. The sillage is good as well. The depth of the woods has a way of sticking in the air as you move around. This performance is with three sprays.

This is all-season wear. On the hottest days of summer, you have to moderate your sprays. The intensity of notes gets too strong. You’ll get 11 months of wear in a four-season climate.

As for occasions, it is all. This is a loud fragrance, but it is very wearable. Moderate your sprays if you are in the office or other close-quarter settings.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are average. There’s nothing about this fragrance that shouts for attention. On the flip side, none of the notes are decisive. This is just a simple and sophisticated fragrance that many will think, “Oh, he smells nice.”

Final Words

Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme is worth a sample or decant. It’s a quality fragrance, a great performer, etc. My only hesitation is that there’s no note that makes this cologne special. It’s very simple, classy, and sophisticated. So, before you purchase a bottle, make sure you’re okay with wearability over uniqueness.

I enjoy this fragrance because it’s the true Gucci brand. We commonly see Gucci as sweatpants, funky shirts, and other streetwear. But Gucci Pour Homme is different for a man in a well-fitted suit. And I appreciate that kind of class from a brand like this.

After you try Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
