Gucci Guilty Absolute Review – Everything You Need To Know

Guilty Absolute.

The best Gucci fragrance for men.

Gucci Guilty Absolute was released in 2017. It is based on wood, leather, and subtle aromatics. It lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Gucci Guilty Absolute Smell Like?

The opening starts strong. It is a potent leather and dirty patchouli duo on a warm woody backbone. From the start, patchouli has a woody nature that only amplifies the backbone.

As the scent develops, there is a subtle spice from the cypress. It doesn’t come off as peppery but rather an invigorating aromatic nature. In the background, leather and dirty wood notes are present.

The dry-down is smoother and fresher. The patchouli gets kicked out by lighter vetiver while the woody notes get drier. Yet, it still retains a rich, warm, and dark aroma. The vetiver doesn’t last long; it only lightens the scent and kicks patchouli out.

The rest of the wear is almost exclusively a leather and cypress scent. Cypress is still woody with a subtle spicy tinge. This is a simple scent but always retains its masculine nature.

Performance

Guilty Absolute lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate but consistent projection. It pushes out up to an arm’s length for hours before receding to a light ambiance around you.

The sillage is as good. It smells better as you move around but doesn’t necessarily project further or leave a longer scent trail. This performance is with three sprays.

This is fall and winter wear. The depth of leather and wood becomes too intense with too much heat. You’ll get five to six months of wear in a four-season climate. As for occasions, this is all. This is mainly from its subtle and wearable projection.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are average. The subtle projection is less overwhelming and thus more mass-appealing. However, the leather-wood combination can come off as decisive. Not everyone enjoys the slightly animalic nature leather brings.

Gucci Guilty Absolute Clones

The most similar fragrance is By Kilian Dark Lord. They are very similar fragrances, both with dominant wood and leather accords. However, Dark Lord has a boozy rum nuance that sweetens the rich, dark combination of wood and leather. Dark lord is also significantly more expensive.

Final words

Gucci Guilty Absolute is worth it. But I recommend trying a sample or decant first. This isn’t a decisive scent, but not to everyone’s taste. I love that it is a simple aroma that can spice up a collection.

It’s the complete opposite of blue fragrances and makes a statement, “I’m the man, and I’m here now.” A very potent, masculine, and quality cologne while being decently affordable
