Histories de Parfums 1828 Review – Everything You Need To Know

1828.

A unique take on a piney fragrance.

Histories de Parfums 1828 was released in 2001. It is based on woods, citruses, and spices. It lasts seven hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Histories de Parfums 1828 Smell Like?

Upon the first spray is a burst of bitter nutmeg combined with tart, zesty, and sweet citruses. There is a balancing act. The nutmeg tries to overpower the citruses.

Yet, their sweetness pushes the spice to the edges. This makes for an intense first five minutes. It is as if the nutmeg is showcasing the citruses like a prize.

After this period, these notes transcend into a heart of pine and green eucalyptus. They are the stars of the show and add a forest-like aroma to the spicy nutmeg.

As the scent dries down, it settles into itself. The forest-like accords get slightly deeper. The nutmeg and citrus accords in the background add great contrast. The rest of the wear is fresh spices atop green pine.

1828 Performance

1828 lasts seven hours on the skin with gentlemanly projection. It maintains a multiple-foot scent bubble for a large portion of the wear.

The sillage is as good. This has the density to hang in the air as you move around, leaving a decently sized scent trail. This performance is with four sprays.

This is all-season wear except for the coldest days of winter. It doesn’t have enough depth to cut through the cold air.

I’ve tried applying heavier, but the performance was minimal to the six to seven sprays I used. It is unique in the fact that a wood-based fragrance is primed for summer.

As for occasions, it is all. One of its better aspects is wearability. The projection is never too intense.

The mass appeal and likability are above average. This is an easy fragrance to get along with, as there are no decisive notes. It’s almost a barbershop cologne but lacks a strong lavender note found in many.

Lastly, the uniqueness is above average. None of the notes are groundbreaking, but the way in which they’re blended makes them stand out. I mentioned earlier it’s a unique summer scent.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Histories de Parfums 1828 worth it? Yes. It’s actually a recommended fragrance by GQ. I love it because it’s a simple, classic, and masculine scent that can be sprayed on without second thought.

More affordable barbershoppy colognes are on the market, but only a few are this high quality and unique.

1828 is an excellent cologne based on pine. Yet, don’t just limit yourself to 1828. Check out the best pine colognes. All are primed to stand out; you might just find your signature scent.
