Hugo Boss Bottled Full Review – Is the Hype Real?

Boss Bottled.

The original of a popular line of fragrances.

What type of fragrance is Hugo Boss Bottled? Released in 1998, it is all about apple, wood, vanilla, and spice. This blend comes off as charming, energizing, and mysterious. It is a great fragrance to show your masculinity without ever coming off as too much. Let’s dive deeper.

What Does Hugo Boss Bottled Smell Like?

Does this smell like an apple pie right off the bat? Yes. The initial spray is the signature Hugo Boss apple note, fruity and charming. While in the background, you’ll smell lighter wafts of cinnamon spice.

This pair leads for the first 10 – 15 minutes. But as their strength weakens, I can smell wafts of a tart plum note making its way in. It is interesting because the Apple Note has an “uptight” nature. But then the plum note comes in and adds this playful fruity and noticeable sweet nature.

Now, I mentioned there is a tartness, and that’s true, but it’s never like eating a sour patch kid to your nose. It only makes the opening more interesting.

As the plum and apple pair fade, a decent dose of warm vanilla comes in and pushes them to the backseat. The scent keeps a degree of sweetness, but the more the plum fades, the weaker the sweetness becomes.

When the vanilla jumps to the forefront, it brings warm sandalwood and cedar with it. The main idea here is light, warm woods for support. They never get too heavy.

As the scent finishes, it is equal parts wood and vanilla with wafts of fruits and cinnamon. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear. It is sweet but charming and smooth rather than sugary.

Hugo Boss Bottled Performance

How Long Does Boss Bottled Last For?

So yes, I enjoy the scent, but how good is the performance? All the times I have tested this, I have always got five to six hours on the skin. Is it awful? No. Is this great? No. But it’s sure not a great selling point for me.

Now, through testing it, I found the first hour has decent projection. After this period, it recedes and becomes a skin scent in the last hour of the wear.

The scent trail is no better or worse. This leaves a trail as you walk by, but nothing that will have people smelling it five seconds later. This fragrance is just enough to always make your presence known but never overwhelm.

When Should I Wear Boss Bottled?

As for the seasons and occasions, it is surprisingly versatile. Whenever I hear a fragrance that is sweet, I immediately think it’s a fall and winter fragrance only. Most of the time, this is a reasonable assumption.

But here, Boss Bottled ends up being extremely versatile. It is all season and occasion wear. It works as well for a formal occasion as it blends in for a casual event.

Is Hugo Boss Bottled Popular?

So, let’s talk about the secondary performance factors. This is a unique fragrance. I rarely smell other guys wearing this, even though it is a semi-popular fragrance. As for the notes, none are groundbreaking, but the blend is different.

Now, the compliments are great. This is a comfortable and cozy fragrance that makes you very approachable. I have gotten a few “you smell good” compliments with this.

Final Words

So, after wearing Hugo Boss Bottled, what are my final thoughts? The hype is still real. I enjoyed wearing this fragrance and definitely love having it in my collection. Like I said earlier, it is cozy, so it’s great for cozying up or running errands. But here comes the problem… is it worth the $113 on Amazon?

Well, it’s not that good. This is a fragrance that’s worth trying and having, but nothing so good that it should be overpaid for.
