What Does Lacoste White Cologne Smell Like?
The opening is led by citric grapefruit with a prominent clean floral, and woody backbone. The overarching emphasis of white cologne is its clean and fresh emphasis. Cedar is soothed and tempered by an upbeat and bright suede within a few minutes.
The open’s clean florals do an outstanding job of tempering the animalic nature that suede and leather accords can often have. It gives White Cologne additional depth and a more diverse dynamic.
The mid adds light herbal spice. Rosemary is the most herbal, while cardamom is warm and spicy. The floral notes become more prominent, with tuberose and earthy ylang-ylang leading the way.
Tuberose can be found in 1 Million Parfum. It contributes the same rich and creamy white floral nature here. Ylang-ylang can be found in Tom Ford Black Orchid. This is a yellow floral, and though it doesn’t take away from the scents floral nature, it takes white cologne in a sweeter direction with earthy nuances.
As the scent dries down, the citruses and florals remain consistently present. They still have a degree of sweetness, but it never becomes too much. The base finishes with bright citruses and warm cedar as the most prominent. The white and yellow florals play second fiddle in the background.

Performance
The longevity is in the five-hour range with light projection. The first hour is decent, but after this period, it drastically recedes. The rest of the wear is less than a one-foot ambiance until it is a skin scent at hour five. The sillage is decent. It has density that hangs in the air but nothing that will leave a long scent trail. This performance is with five sprays.
This is exclusively spring and summer wear for casual and office situations. This scent isn’t immature, but it is playful and thus won’t work for special occasions. This is a great fragrance to grab and go as it is so wearable.
The mass appeal and likability are above average. This is not a compliment beast or attention magnet, but it is extremely likable for its clean scent profile. Nothing about this scent will ever offend anyone.
Lastly, the uniqueness is average. This is a simple citrus, floral, and woody fragrance. There’s nothing groundbreaking about its floral nature, as many soapy fragrances are floral dominant. However, I have to credit it for the prominent use of ylang-ylang and tuberose. Few men’s fragrances use them as they are slightly harder to use in a masculine scent.
Final Words
The final burning question is, is Lacoste L.12.12 white cologne worth it? No. I enjoyed testing it and appreciate what the perfumer did with the scent profile. However, the quality and performance are nothing that sticks out to me. On discounters, a 100mL bottle costs $58.
If this was in the $30-40 range, I would recommend picking up a bottle as it is so wearable, but it’s not worth it at this price point.
If you try Lacoste white cologne, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
