What Does Le Labo Bergamote 22 Smell Like?

Could you guess how it starts based on the name? Authentic bergamot leads the opening. The best part? It is never too bitter or sour.

Instead, it sparkles off the skin like citrus seltzer water. In the background, there are some spices and orange blossom. The orange blossom is the most noticeable and can’t decide what it wants to be.

Part of it is clean white florals, and part is fresh citruses. Then, those spices sit on the edge and keep things interesting.

This blend will take you right into the mid, where it is the same scent but a bit more soapy. Is this off-putting? No, far from it. The take-home message here is how clean and wearable it is.

The scent finishes changing after the first one to two hours. A light woody base and clean musk snuck their way in. This duo darkens the scent a bit, but nothing too dirty.

The rest of the wear is fresh citruses atop woody musk. This blend is both dark and clean.

Le Labo Bergamote 22 notes:

Bergamote 22 Performance

How Long Does Bergamote 22 Last?

Bergamote 22 lasts five to six hours on the skin with light projection. It’s the performance of a typical authentic citrus fragrance.

The projection is moderate for the first two to three hours; after this, it recedes close to the skin.

As for sillage, it is nonexistent. There is no depth in here to make it last. This performance is with six sprays. Thankfully, you can accidentally overspray, and it’ll never be overpowering.

When Should I Wear Bergamote 22?

This is exclusively late spring and summer wear. You’ll get two to three months of wear in a four-season climate. As for occasions, it is all.

The projection is subtle enough to be worn in any situation without being overwhelming. And the scent profile is sophisticated enough.

Is Bergamote 22 Likable?

The mass appeal and likability are excellent. There are no decisive notes in the fragrance. It’s an easy fragrance for everyone to enjoy as it’s not too intense, and the blend of notes is high-quality.

Lastly, the uniqueness is nothing crazy. It’s authentic, but it’s just a citrus fragrance.

Here are the top three pros and cons:

Pros

  • Clean and sharp citrus-dominant fragrance.
  • Velvety and natural-smelling woody bergamot.
  • Fresh and pleasant lemon-lime opening.

Cons

  • Expensive for what it is.
  • Poor sillage and longevity for a niche perfume.
  • Not worth the hype, according to some reviewers.

Is Bergamote 22 Worth It?

A sample or decant. This is a quality fragrance like all Le Labo scents, but it’s expensive for what it is. Orange Sanguine Atelier Cologne is also an authentic citrus fragrance and about a third of the price.

I recommend you fall in love with Bergamote 22 before you buy it, as the performance and versatility are below average.
