California Dream.
A light and wearable unisex fragrance.
Louis Vuitton California Dream was released in 2020. It is based on citruses, musk, and benzoin. It lasts six hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Louis Vuitton California Dream Smell Like?
The opening is led by juicy mandarin orange. It is an authentic smell. Yes, it is bright and zesty but mellow and fresh. The entire wear, I never found myself repulsed because it was too sharp or bitter. The background has clean musk nuances, but the orange drowns them out. It swallows everything in its path in the first 15-20 minutes.
After this period, musk comes through with intensity, bringing ambrette with it. Into the dry down, it is equal parts fresh, zesty orange, and musk with warm wafts of amber.
The base is significantly drier but still fresh. The rest of the wear is citrus with a slightly sweet and powdery musk. Both sit atop a benzoin base that takes the place of amber.
Louis Vuitton California Dream notes:
- Mandarin Orange
- Musk
- Pear
- Amberette

Performance
The longevity is in the five to six-hour range. However, the projection is quite good for being a citrus-based fragrance. The first one to two hours pushes out an arm’s length. After this period, it recedes to a light ambiance for the rest of the wear.
The sillage is as good. The more you move around, the better this smells and projects. This performance is with five sprays.
This is exclusively warm weather wear. Late spring and summer. As for occasions, it is best suited for casual but could be worn for all. It has the Louis Vuitton class and quality to shine for more formal situations.
The mass appeal and likability are excellent. There are no decisive notes in the fragrance. It is simple and wearable. Lastly, the uniqueness is average. It is quality and wearable, but there’s nothing groundbreaking about a citric musk fragrance.
Final Words
The final burning question is, is Louis Vuitton California Dream worth it? Yes. It is expensive, but I love having this as a summer fragrance. It’s a higher quality and longer-lasting Dior Homme Cologne.
After you try Louis Vuitton California Dream, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
