Louis Vuitton Sur la Route

Louis Vuitton Sur la Route (2023) Full Review – Everything You Need to Know

Sur la Route.

One of the highest quality citrus fragrances.

Louis Vuitton Sur la Route was released in 2018. It is based on citruses, spices, and greens. It lasts six to seven hours on the skin with light projection. This review will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Louis Vuitton Sur La Route Smell Like?

A heavy dose of citric bergamot grabs attention in the opening. It is authentic with the spicy and “tart” nuances that the note often projects. There is no juiciness. Instead, it smells watered down.

The intense grass note is the most exciting part of the first 15 minutes. It is not herbal or dirty. Instead, it does two things. Amplifies the green freshness of bergamot. And tempers the intensity of citruses that would otherwise be too intense.

In the background are spicy nuances. For the initial opening, I can’t determine the specific spice note. Yet, as the scent progresses, nutmeg and Cardamom come out to play more and more.

Well, what about the other notes? They are present with the same intensity. The overarching emphasis is green and citric freshness. There are no note additions from the 15-minute mark to the dry down.

The first hour of Sur la Route is deceptive. I was sad at the idea of just another Louis Vuitton citrus-based fragrance. But I am glad to be wrong. It took some time, but it became a scent of its own.

A leathery and cedar depth with nuances of spice dominates the base. The fresh greenness lingers but only stops the leather and cedar from becoming too heavy. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

Performance

Sur la Route lasts six to seven hours on the skin. Considering it’s an authentic citrus-based fragrance, this is actually really good. The projection is light. It pushes out one to two feet for the first three hours. After this period, it recedes to a soft ambiance for the rest of the wear.

The sillage doesn’t fair any better. It leaves a soft scent trail but nothing that will hang in the air and get you noticed seconds after you walk by. This performance is with five sprays. The nice aspect is that you can “accidentally” overspray and won’t offend anyone.

This is spring, summer, and early fall wear. Another surprising aspect. How many citrus-based fragrances do you know work well in the cool weather? I don’t know many. As for occasions, it is all. There are better formal occasion fragrances, but this at least won’t smell immature.

The mass appeal and likability are excellent. There are no decisive notes in the fragrance. Who doesn’t like an authentic citrus and attention-grabbing spicy scent? If you wear this enough, it will definitely garner compliments. The weak projection is the only aspect stopping it from being a compliment-beast.

Lastly, the uniqueness is nothing special. It is likable and quality, but this scent is nothing groundbreaking. I give it credit for the fresh greenness to break up the monotony of citruses.

Besuited Aroma gives Louis Vuitton Sur la Route an 8.2 out of 10 rating.

Final Words

Louis Vuitton Sur la Route is worth it. I have nothing bad to say about this fragrance. It is expensive, but it is a Louis Vuitton fragrance of the utmost quality. I agree that the price is warranted.

My only warning is the other citrus-based Louis Vuitton fragrances. Afternoon Swim and Imagination are both outstanding fragrances. I recommend giving all three a try and finding which is best for you. Whichever you choose, it is an excellent choice.
