Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandarlo di Sicilia

Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT Review – Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo

Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT.

A gourmands delight that is intimate all the way around.

Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT was released in 1999. It is based on vanilla, almonds, and fruits. It lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT Smell Like?

The opening is defined by its smooth sweetness and slightly fizzy nature. It may be intriguing to find that the beginning of the wear has a root beer float-like nature. The first few minutes are fleeting notes of orange.

Quickly, it transitions to an almond and vanilla duo with star anise spice undertones. All three of these more dominant notes are very well-blended. Working in unison to create the root beer float-like quality. Now the smell is not 1:1, but it is reminiscent.

After some time, vanilla gains a powdery sugary sweet nature and is the most prominent of the duo. Almond is still present but sits in the background. At this point, the perfume is very light and airy. Blessing many with your gourmand aroma.

Performance

Mandarlo di Sicilia lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. From the first spray, it pushes out one to two feet and remains so for the rest of the wear.

The sillage doesn’t fair any better. As you move around, the scent trail is virtually nonexistent. This performance is with five sprays. Fortunately, this is a fragrance you can accidentally overapply and not overwhelm anyone.

This is all-season wear except for the coldest days of winter and the hottest days of summer. I have tried to apply heavier in the winter, but it has diminishing returns. Eventually, it got extremely intense in my personal bubble, but it didn’t project or last well. The opposite can be said for hot weather, fewer sprays but still too intense.

As for occasions, it is all. The projection is subtle enough to blend in and not overwhelm.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent. Everyone around will love the sweet aroma that is present but doesn’t consume them. As a general rule, sweet fragrances get the second most amount of compliments behind ambroxan-based scents.

Final Words

There aren’t any accurate Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT dupes.

So, is Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT worth it? Maybe. I have two reservations. One, the performance is extremely subtle. It’s nice to have a subtle ambiance at times, but as an everyday cologne, it should be better.

Second, it is marketed as a unisex fragrance but leans feminine. If you only like masculine fragrances, don’t waste your time. On the bright side, this is a delicious gourmand fragrance and decently affordable. It’s worth a sample or decant.

After you try Mandarlo di Sicilia EDT, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
