What Does Sedley Parfums de Marly Smell Like?
The opening starts bright and citric, paired with an aromatic accord.
It is not as bright as the opening seemed it was going to be. The various citruses in the opening are all battling it out, tempering each other in the process.
The mid develops with a heavy aromatic note. It has a light, fresh spiciness. The citruses from the beginning linger in the background.
The lavender jumps to the forefront, bringing musky accents with it. This pair has an almost dusty accent that smells cool on the skin.
The dry-down is simple. A smooth softness coats the base, mainly from a small dose of ambroxan and cashmeran. Subtle woody accords become more prominent, mixing with musky accents.

Sedley Performance
The performance of Sedley was nothing to write home about. On my skin, it lasted 6 – 7 hours max. I wore it multiple times, and each time it was weak.
The same goes for the projection. The first hour had 1 – 2 feet of projection, but after four hours, I had to put my nose within an inch of my hand to smell it.
Sedley is exclusively spring and summer wear. It is quality enough to be worn for all occasions, but best fits casual situations.
Is it unique and likable? It isn’t anything special, nor does it stand out. However, this makes it mass-appealing and easily wearable. If you wore this in public, people would think you just smell good.
Is Parfums de Marly Sedley Worth It?
No. It isn’t unique and has slightly below-average performance. It can be worn for all occasions, but best fits casual ones. Considering the price point, you’re money is better spent elsewhere.

The current sample I am reviewing was bought from Parfums de Marly’s website. It is one of seven in their men’s discovery set. These are seven 1.5mL bottles of their most popular colognes.
Shown below are the box and the bottle of Parfums de Marly Sedley. The bottle is light blue and transparent. The cap clicks into place. You won’t have to worry about it spilling.
The box is light blue with the logo on the front. The batch code will be on the bottom of both the box and bottle.
History
Parfums de Marly’s brand was founded in 1743 in France. They have experience, to say the least.
From Parfums de Marly, “Each fragrance has its own olfactory signature, developed from a palette of noble ingredients. The splendor of the 18th century through a prism of modern vision.”
Sedley was released in 2019. Created by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani. It is one of a kind for the brand and, currently, does not have any flankers.

Sedley is a great fragrance but bottle-worthy for nearly no one. Like a true Parfums de Marly fragrance, it is wearable and high-quality, but that’s all it has going for it.
Greenley is a better fresh Parfums de Marly perfume. There are other good fresh fragrances outside of the brand that are more affordable. I’m sorry to be the negative Nancy on this perfume. The truth has to be told.
