What Does Ralph Lauren Polo Red EDT Smell Like?
The opening is a sharp and fruity pairing of citruses and cranberry. The lemon is the most prominent, with a citric bitterness. While the fruity accord has a degree of sweetness, it’s just a subtle dose and more charming than syrupy.
The overarching emphasis in the opening is the dominant cranberry note; make sure you enjoy its tart sweetness. Amber nuances linger in the mid, giving the fruity top notes a decent depth. It smoothes out cranberry’s sharp and tart nature while retaining the bright citric and fruity mixture.
Into the base, woodier and spicer qualities are added. They complement the coffee note well. The rest of the wear consists of coffee, wood, and spices with lingering notes from before.

Performance
Polo Red EDT lasts four to five hours on the skin with light projection. It pushes out the first half an hour before receding and becoming a skin scent. Even if you move around, the scent doesn’t fair much better, always retaining a light ambiance and nothing more. This performance is with five sprays.
This is all-season wear, except the hottest days of summer and coldest days of winter. It either gets too sweet or lacks the depth to last respectively. You’ll get 10 to 11 months of wear in a four-season climate.
As for occasions, it is all. A subtle projection and a quality blend of notes that is never too much or too little.
Lastly, mass appeal and likability are average. There aren’t decisive notes in the fragrance, but there also isn’t any note that makes Polo Red special. A simple and wearable fragrance.
Final Words
There aren’t any great clones of Polo Red outside of the line. Its flankers, Polo Red Intense, and EDP, share the same DNA, but each has unique twists.
The final burning question is, is Ralph Lauren Polo Red EDT worth it? No. There’s nothing about this fragrance that shouts buy. It’s average in everything it does. If you find it under $20, it might be worth it for the fun of it, but this is not a scent I would overpay for or go out of my way to buy.
