What does Elysium Pour Homme Parfum Cologne Smell Like?

Upon the first spray, I’m meant with a blast of authentic lemon and grapefruit.

Imagine juicing both into the bottle. That’s the same idea here. They have all the accents of real ones: fresh, citric, tart, bitter, etc. Yet, they never go so far that they become piercing.

Semi-sweet pink pepper nuances coat around the edges. They are both invigorating and keep the citruses in check. This all happens in the first few minutes. The general idea is a fresh, spicy aroma that sparkles off the skin.

The fresh spiciness soon settles. Hints of ambergris sneak up from the base, giving the scent depth. It, too, is authentic. There are equal parts: amber and musk.

As the scent develops, it gets simpler with the addition of denser wood. It is a woody vetiver that carries an aromatic nature. It is high-quality but nothing ground-breaking.

The rest of the wear is fresh spices and ambergris atop a woody backbone.

The first couple of hours, it pushes out an arm’s length before receding and maintains a two to three-foot projection.

The sillage is moderate as well. The more you move around it pushes out and makes your presence known. However, it doesn’t have the depth to leave a long, dense scent trail that sticks in the air.

This performance is with three sprays.

Is Elysium A Summer Fragrance?

This is spring, summer, and fall wear. It’s not a true blue fragrance because it lacks versatility.

Oddly, it doesn’t have the depth to stay and develop correctly in colder temperatures. The authentic citruses and aromatics in the opening make this geared towards warm-weather wear only.

Is Elysium Likable?

This versatility and quality translate to its excellent mass appeal and likability. There’s no note in this fragrance that comes off as decisive. It also has a decent dose of ambroxan, which attracts the most compliments and attention.

However, I love this fragrance because of its quality, uniqueness, and versatility. I am a sucker for a fragrance that can easily be sprayed on and worn without a second thought.
