Fille en Aiguilles.
One of the best pine colognes for men.
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles was released in 2009. It is based on wood and aromatics. It lasts six hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe the smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles Smell Like?
The opening is led by a blast of coniferous wood and sweet dried fruits. In the background is strong smoky frankincense; they are slightly smoky and musty. It’s a great combination with the pine accord as it comes off as smoky woods. The overarching emphasis is a rich and warm opening.
Fille en Aiguilles lacks a mid. After an hour transitions into the heart of the fragrance.
Much of the woods and smoky accents fade away. Their void is filled by a heavy cranberry emphasis and bay leaves. The rich and warm resins are still present and will give Fille en Anguilles depth.
If you’re unfamiliar with bay leaves, they are herbal and aromatic, similar to thyme and oregano. They give the base a degree of “spice,” which is just the intensity of the herbalness. The rest of the wear is sweet dried fruits, herbal bay leaves, and warm resins.

Performance
Fille en Aiguilles lasts six hours on the skin with intimate projection. It pushes out a couple of feet for the first hour, then becomes a skin scent. The sillage fairs as well. It has the depth to hang in the air as you move around but still a subtle fragrance. This performance is with three sprays.
This is fall and winter wear. It needs cooler weather to temper its strength. As for occasions, it is exclusively for special events. This is such a special scent that it wouldn’t fit in any other situation.
The mass appeal and likability are below average. There’s no denying that this is an artisanal art form, but the blend of notes will only be appreciated by some. It takes a sophisticated nose to enjoy the smoky incense and woods.
Lastly, the uniqueness is excellent. There’s no other fragrance that can compete with this blend of notes. No matter if it’s the quality or development. Fille en Aiguilles is a true niche fragrance.
Final Words
Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles is worth it. If you’ve read this review, my guess is that you have a decent-sized collection with high-quality fragrances. Thus, this is a great scent to have.
This is one of those fragrances that I spray on for my own enjoyment. It is comforting and reminiscent of my childhood playing in the forest.
