Noir de Noir.
The best fragrance for a Valentine’s Day date.
Tom Ford Noir de Noir was released in 2007. It is based on earthy rose and patchouli. It lasts six to eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Tom Ford Noir de Noir Smell Like?
The opening is dominated by roses. It is equal parts sweet and dirty. The dirty nature comes from patchouli. It has an earthy spice that is not prominent but adds a dynamic facet to the opening.
In the background, saffron amplifies these spicy accents, but you can’t smell the note specifically.
The one thing I will highlight about the earthy and dirty nature is that it is never “gross.” It doesn’t smell like you haven’t taken a shower. Instead, it is very alluring and seductive.
Most of the wear is denoted by sweet and dirty rose notes. Over time, it gets more floral, spicy, and sweet. All this happens while sitting on a subtle and sweet bed of oud.

Performance
Noir de Noir lasts six to eight hours on the skin with moderate projection. In the first couple of hours, it pushes out a few feet. After this period, it recedes closer to the skin.
This is exclusively for fall and winter wear. It is best for special occasions like dates and formal events. It is not to say that you can’t wear it to the office or in casual situations; the projection is subtle enough. But the scent is so unique and decisive that you’ll want to reserve this for special occasions.
Lastly, let’s talk about mass appeal and likability. This is a decisive scent, and that is from the dirty and earthy nature of the Rose and Patchouli combination. This is an extremely attractive fragrance, but it won’t be loved by all like a traditional blue fragrance. This is for acquired tastes.
Tom Ford Noir de Noir Clones
The best dupe of Noir de Noir is our Armaf Club de Nuit Intense. It has the same prominent rose note and dirty patchouli. However, instead of the intense earthy accord, it replaces it with fresh spices.
If you want a decent fragrance for a tenth of the price and one fresher and more mass appealing. Armaf Club de Nuit Intense will be a great choice for you.
Final Words
A 50mL bottle costs close to $300.
The final burning question is, is Tom Ford Noir de Noir worth it? Probably not; why?
This fragrance lacks so much versatility. Its sole purpose is for dates and formal occasions. If you do that stuff a lot, this is a decent choice. But for most other people with a small to medium-sized collection, you’re probably not going to get your money’s worth.
Sure, you will smell great the five times you wear it. But do you really want to pay $60 to wear a fragrance? This is a good fragrance, just not a useful one for most.
