Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Review – Do You Need It?

Tuscan Leather.

The original Tom Ford leather fragrance.

Tom Ford Tuscan Leather was released in 2007. It is based on leather and slightly sweet raspberry. It lasts nine to ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Smell Like?

An enormous dose of leather leads the opening. You must enjoy leather if you want to wear this men’s cologne. It is loud and bold but always maintains its richness and quality. Touches of saffron spice and juicy raspberry try to offset the leather’s intensity.

However, they only take away the rough “edges.” Making the bulk of the scent enjoyable.

For nearly the entire wear, it is just leather. There are subtle additions of smoke and amber warmth in the dry down. Yet, both sit in the background as raspberry and saffron did.

Performance

Tuscan Leather lasts nine to ten hours on the skin. The projection is well above average. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for multiple hours before receding.

As for seasons, it is fall and winter wear. It is an intense fragrance, so it needs the colder weather to temper it. If you live in a four-season climate, you’ll get a solid six months of wear out of this.

It is great for all occasions. But you have to be careful in close-quarter settings like the office or lecture hall as the Leather is intense and can become overwhelming. I mostly wear this for casual situations, giving this fragrance room to air out and express itself.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are not great. This leather note is decisive and slightly harsh even though it is smoothed out by the raspberry sweetness. Some people are going to love this intense leather note, and others are going to despise it. This is the type of fragrance that you wear solely for yourself and no one else.

Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Clones

There are many clones of this fragrance, enough that I can make an entire article just on its dupes. Ombre Leather is a very similar fragrance. However, instead of the raspberry sweetness, it has a floral tone, is more rounded, and is easier to wear.

However, the most similar fragrance is Rasasi La Yuqawam. This is the same fragrance as Tuscan Leather, except for the quality and price point (cheaper).

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Tom Ford Tuscan Leather worth it? No, a 50mL bottle costs close to $300. Ombre leather is an easier-to-wear fragrance and still Leather dominant but half the price.

Even if you love the Leather and fruity Raspberry combination, the clone is still an excellent choice for 1/5 of the price.

Yes, Tuscan Leather is quality and a great performer, but there are better choices.

If you try Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
