Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP Review – Why You Need It

Spicebomb Extreme EDP.

A winter show-stopper for men.

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP was released in 2015. It is based on fresh spices, sweet vanilla, and tobacco. It lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP Smell Like?

The opening is a big blast of spice and pepper but not aggressive. It will not be like putting your nose above a pepper shaker. A mild grapefruit note rests under the opening duo and calms down the spices. Still, the grapefruit isn’t memorable. Those are the first few minutes.

Some vanilla and tobacco are in the background, but they are not yet prominent.

As the scent develops, cinnamon is present early on and will last for the rest of the wear. Over time, it gains other warm spices, but none are as prevalent as cinnamon.

Once in the dry down, it is all about the dominant tobacco note with a dark, rich, sweet vanilla. This duo dominates with warm spices sprinkled on top for the rest of the wear. As the scent finishes, it highlights its smooth, creamy texture with a deep ambery base.

The official Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP notes:

  • Cumin
  • Cinnamon
  • Saffron
  • Tobacco
  • Vanilla
  • Bourbon

Performance

The performance is as explosive as the smell. This lasts 12+ hours on the skin with near room-filling projection, pushing out four to five feet for the first few hours before receding.

With this intensity and heavy emphasis on spices, it is exclusively fall and winter wear. It works for all occasions, but you must be careful in close-quarter settings like the office or lecture hall as it can get overpowering. If I were being picky, I would only recommend casual situations when the scent has room to air.

You’ll get a solid four months of wear in a four-season climate. As your climate gets warmer, this becomes more and more difficult to wear. If you’re near the equator, this would not be wearable.

The mass appeal and likability are great. This is one of the main reasons I mention it can be an all-occasion wear even with intense projection. As for compliments, this attracts attention like a blue fragrance because of its sweet vanilla and masculine tobacco combination.

Besuited Aroma gives Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP a 9.2 out of 10 rating.

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP Clones

The most similar fragrance to Spicebomb Extreme is the original Spicebomb. Both have a prominent tobacco note, but the biggest difference is that the Extreme version has a prominent vanilla note. There are some other minor differences in the presentation of the notes, but vanilla is the most significant.

Outside of the Spicebomb line, Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla is the best clone of Spicebomb Extreme. Both have prominent vanilla notes, but Spice & Black Vanilla lacks a tobacco note with warm cardamom spice instead of cinnamon. Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla is also significantly cheaper.

Final Words

Is Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP worth it? Yes, it is even a must-have. It is one of the best winter fragrances for men and one of the best overall. On the official website, a 90mL bottle costs $134. Slightly pricey but in line with other top-designer fragrances.

If I could only own one fragrance for the winter, this would be one of my top choices. Now the extreme version or the original? The extreme as it lasts longer and has a better blend of notes. The vanilla and tobacco combination in this is something special.

After you try Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme EDP, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
