Victoria Secret.
Commonly seen as a women’s brand.
This review will describe the four best Men’s Victoria’s Secret cologne. I will describe their smell, performance, and anything else you need to know. Despite the brand’s stereotype, these are all excellent-smelling fragrances.
Table of Contents
#4 – Very Sexy for Him 2
This is the lightest and softest fragrance on the list. There’s a ton of fresh aromatics and woods. The opening is the best part of the scent with sage, juniper berry, and other aromatics. They are refreshing like citruses but with more density.
In the background, there is a slight spicy feel, but it never comes to the forefront. The overarching emphasis in the opening is invigorating fresh spices. As the scent develops, there is a semi-aquatic feel. Very Sexy for Him 2 finishes with weakened fresh aromatic spices and a woody base.
The longevity is in the four-hour range, while the projection is intimate. It’s not the best, but it makes it very wearable. You can wear this for any season or occasion, but… I don’t recommend the cooler weather because you’ll have to use too many sprays to get decent performance.
#3 – Very Sexy Platinum for Him
The Very Sexy line doesn’t deviate much, but Platinum takes the line in a darker and more woodsy feel. If you’re looking for the most masculine of the three on this list, this is mainly from its mossy tinges.
The opening is fresh aromatics but greener. This is from the Violet leaf note that brings ozonic/aquatic accents with it. In the background is a less prominent oakmoss for the moment. It stays in line with the fragrance’s freshness but has a sharper tinge. It pairs well with a spicy pepper note.
The overarching emphasis in the opening is fresh spices but darker.
Oakmoss shines in the dry-down. It feels a lot fresher and has a more mossy wood nature. Violet leaf remains in the background but is all about its aquatic faucets. The rest of the wear is aquatic, woody moss.
The longevity is in the three to four-hour range. The projection is decent in the opening when the freshness and spices are most prominent. Once in the base, it is a significantly lighter fragrance and maintains a soft ambiance for the rest of the wear.
I appreciate that this has some density and allows it to hang in the air longer as you move around, creating a decent scent trail behind you. The seasons and occasions are all. However, you’ll be better off not wasting your juice on cold winter days.
#2 – VS Him Deepwater
This was the most enjoyable fragrance on this list, mainly because it is somewhat unique. The opening is all about citric bergamot and ice…? It’s an odd addition, but it actually gives the opening a cool aquatic nature. With the bright bergamot and ice, it’s an excellent contrast.
In the background, I smell wafts of what smells like sweet musk, but there aren’t any musk notes in the scent tree. The general idea I’m picking up here is cleanliness. 10 – 15 minutes in the wear, the bright opening turns over into a dense, aromatic scent. This is attributed to an interesting blue sage with earthy and sweet faucets.
VS Him Deepwater finishes off with woody cedar additions. The rest of the wear is a pleasant, fresh, and woody aroma.
The longevity is in the five-hour range but with intimate projection for the entire wear – at least you won’t offend anyone 😬. This is more warm-weather wear because of both the projection and more aquatic nature, but for all occasions.
#1 – Very Sexy for Him
I enjoyed VS Him Deepwater, but… this was an easy choice as number one and thus #3 and #4. It is the original and has the best performance on the list. If you’ve caught the trend, you’ll have guessed this is a fresh, spicy opening with a woody base.
The first spray is led by a citrus blast, but it’s more than just bergamot; lime and mandarin are in the background with zesty and smooth citric accents. The spice is unique as it is cinnamon. Citrus and cinnamon may not sound like the best combination, but it’s more alluring than all other fragrances on this list.
Within a few minutes comes the sage, giving the fragrance density and a degree of herbal spice, similar to all other Victoria Secret colognes. Very Sexy for Him finishes with a woody depth. It’s mostly vetiver, which has an earthy and masculine tinge.
The rest of the wear is sweet, clean, earthy, fresh spices and wood.
The longevity is in the five-hour range. However, the first two hours have decent projection. It pushes out a foot or two at its peak. After this period, it becomes a skin scent. This is all-season and occasion wear. It struggles in the winter but does better than all others on this list.
Final Words
There’s no denying that before I tried the fragrances, I hesitated about the brand they were made from. Thankfully, I didn’t fall into the trap of ignorance and not trying. In return, I experienced four excellent and attractive scents for men.
It’s safe to say that these will make you irresistible, given they’re created by a women’s brand. The only downfall is that Very Sexy for Him has been discontinued. It now goes for $300+ on eBay and other secondary retailers. To me, it’s not $300’s good.
However, on the official Victoria’s Secret website, you can get VS Him Deepwater for $80 for a 100mL bottle. The performance could be better, but the scents are worth it.
After you try a Men’s Victoria’s Secret cologne, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
