Versace Dylan Blue – The Most Affordable

Why It’s Here: This is a fresh and warm fragrance with a shower gel aroma. Its most popular compliment is “You smell good.”

This has ambroxan in it. This is a popular note found most notably in the Dior Sauvage line; if you’re unfamiliar, this line of colognes is women’s soft spot.

The shower gel aroma may seem like a downfall, and people often make it out to be so. However, it’s my favorite part of the fragrance.

The performance is above average in both the longevity and scent bubble. You can spray this on and not worry about it for the rest of the day.

One of the better parts of Dylan Blue is its uniqueness. It is not hyper-unique but considering blue fragrances. It has its own genre. Many fragrances have similarities, but none are clones.

Pros

  • Easy to wear.
  • One of the best beginner fragrances.
  • The most affordable fragrance when considering the quality you receive.
  • The performance is excellent.

Cons

  • Some people may not like the saltiness or shower gel aroma.
  • Excluding price, there are better blue fragrances.

Le Labo Another 13 – The Quiet and Sophisticated

Why It’s Here: This is a musky, warm, and woody fragrance. The smell is similar to newspapers or manila folders in the best way possible.

It is a subtle seducer with a masculine and clean finish. When I smell this, it is everything and nothing at the same time. This elusive nature is what makes it so good at getting compliments.

This is one of the most expensive fragrances on this list. Yet, it comes with the most class. This is the type of fragrance for finance and real estate moguls who aren’t overly exuberant with their money.

The performance is slightly above average. Yet, this makes it extremely wearable. It lasts long enough for any event or occasion but does not overwhelm others.

As for seasons, you can wear this all year round. You should add one more spray in the coldest parts of winter.

Pros

  • A quiet fragrance that is great at blending in but still standing out.
  • The quality and uniqueness are unmatched.
  • Great versatility and wearability.

Cons

  • The manila folder/magazine smell is not for everyone.
  • An expensive fragrance.

Parfums de Marly Greenley –The Best Summer Compliment – Getter

Why It’s Here: Greenley is for an energetic guy who loves the summer. It has very strong citruses and some woods. When you spray this one, it smells like a sour warhead candy.

My nose puckers a bit, but it keeps me coming back for more. The best part is that the scent is made for summer. And by far, it’s one of my favorites for the warm weather.

Greenley will last eight hours on the skin with a noticeable but never overwhelming scent bubble. The trail it leaves is decent and hangs in the air well.

Pros

  • The opening is addictive.
  • It is a unique summer fragrance.
  • A simple scent that is easy to spray on and go.

Cons

  • N/A

Jazz Club Maison Martin Margiela – The Best Seducer

Why It’s Here: I hate to burst your bubble, but this is not Dolce and Gabbana The One EDP with rum additions.

This is based on tobacco, vanilla, sweet rum, and smoky woods. As the name suggests, walk into a Jazz Club and sit by the rich guy smoking a cigar; this is probably close to what you’ll get here.

Jazz Club is not your typical loud compliment-getter; it is a seducer; women can’t help but come back to smell more.

My favorite part, and why it’ll be so good for you, is that it’s unique; of all the fragrances on this website, I can’t think of anything close to it.

The longevity is about average. The projection becomes intimate after only a few hours. It leans more toward cold-weather wear. This is one of the best going-out fragrances on the market.

Pros

  • A hyper-masculine fragrance that still attracts a ton of attention.
  • Unique.
  • It’s perfect for the guy who doesn’t like to shout for attention.

Cons

  • A no-go for anyone who dislikes boozy scents.

Givenchy Gentleman EDT Intense – Wearability Mixed with Masculinity

Why It’s Here: A dark, floral, and woody fragrance. This is similar to Prada L’Homme but in a darker way. Some guys freak out when they hear “floral” in a men’s fragrance, but this scent is very masculine.

This is for the type of guy who wants a classy compliment-getter that smells like you have your life together, and although you want compliments, you’re not desperate for them.

Gentleman Givenchy EDT Intense is an average performer. It lasts seven to eight hours on the skin and projects up to arm’s length for a couple of those.

It is a perfect fragrance for transitionary periods of spring and fall.

Pros

  • It is a classy gentleman’s fragrance.
  • Unique and almost one-of-a-kind in men’s perfumery.
  • It stands out but is still easy to wear for all seasons and occasions.

Cons

  • Despite being masculine, some guys refuse to wear a noticeably floral fragrance.
  • If sprayed too heavily in the high heat, it becomes overwhelming.

Azzaro The Most Wanted – The Most Simple

Why It’s Here: The Most Wanted is spicy, sweet, and woody. This is the fragrance for an alluring crowd-pleaser. This is the type of fragrance that you’d wear at a crowded bar or similar occasions.

Despite the bottle, it’s not Mr. Mysterious. Yet, it doesn’t need to try to when it’s this attractive. There are a few other versions from the line, and I thought the Parfum was better.

One, this doesn’t take away from the quality of this. Two, this gets more compliments. The few compliments I have received with this have been at night and “you smell amazing!” compliments.

The performance is excellent and will be a showstopper in the colder months.

Pros

  • Simple with a big personality.
  • Unstoppable performance.
  • The quality is similar to high-end designer fragrances but less expensive.

Cons

  • It is limited to only being worn in the cold weather.

Bleu de Chanel Parfum – Classic DNA but Darker

Why It’s Here: The darkest and richest version of the Bleu de Chanel line. This is the best version if you’re looking for something more mature. If you’re a 30-year-old man, this is your best choice.

It is still an authentic citrus, spicy, and woody fragrance. The ending is richer than the other versions. It uses Sandalwood rather than Iso E Super. The sandalwood has a warmth not found in Iso E Super.

The versatility is still fantastic, with slightly better performance. No matter the season or occasion, this is a great choice.

The compliments are so good because it has the same likable Bleu de Chanel DNA but more mature.

Pros

  • A darker and more sophisticated version of a classic and popular fragrance.
  • The easiest fragrance to wear with a twist.
  • The quality for the price is unmatched.

Cons

  • The most expensive concentration from the line but not necessarily the best.

Amouage Jubilation XXV – The Most Expensive

Why It’s Here: Jubilation XXV is based on warm spices, sweet fruits, smokiness, and wood. The opening is captivating, with a blackberry note fused with a thick resin in the background.

To a degree, it smells like a blackberry pie for the first few minutes. The ending is completely different; it turns to dark wood, and most of the sweetness is gone.

Despite this being an Amouage fragrance, the entire wear is sophisticated but never loud. This is mostly from the average but noticeable projection.

Jubilation XXV reels in compliments so well because of the unique contrast from the beginning to the end.

Pros

  • Nearly no other guy will be wearing this.
  • It is a unique fragrance that no one else will have smelt.
  • The complexity makes this interesting. From beginning to end, you’ll want to know what happens next.

Cons

  • Expensive price point.

Creed Aventus – The Easiest Go-To

Why It’s Here: Aventus gets so many compliments because of the masculine charm and beautiful blend of notes. This is a citric and smoky wood fragrance.

Its biggest con is that every guy has some variation of it, whether the real thing or its best dupes.

However, this is the biggest con. The pros by far outnumber them. The performance is fantastic, the smell is unique but easy to wear, it’s versatile, and the compliments are amazing.

Even though it is a popular fragrance, I can’t stop wearing it. Not many guys wear the real thing, so though you may smell similar, most people can tell the difference nine times out of ten.

Pros

  • Playful and Masculine.
  • Great performance and versatility.
  • Even though it is expensive, you’re getting your money’s worth.

Cons

  • You’ll smell like a lot of other guys.

YSL Y EDP – The Definition of Playful & Masculine

Why It’s Here: The moment I spray this on, it smells masculine and playful at the same time. The first spray has an iconic fruity apple note with a zingy ginger. In the end, it remains crisp, clean, and slightly sweet with a green woodiness.

It smells like the fragrance you’d wear when you get out of the shower. Many people call Versace Dylan Blue a shower gel fragrance, but this is more so to me. And that’s not a bad thing, it’s very clean and fresh.

The performance is great for a few hours, but with too many sprays, it becomes overwhelming. As things die down, it sits closer to the skin.

It’s odd, but I have always gotten more compliments from this in the Spring and Fall rather than any other season.

Pros

  • Easy and fun to wear.
  • One of the most affordable on this list for the highest quality.
  • It smells like many popular fragrances but still has its own twist.

Cons

  • It will smell synthetic to some.
  • Overwhelming if oversprayed.

Parfums de Marly Sedley – The Dependable Warm Weather Beast

Why It’s Here: Sedley is one of my all-time favorite warm-weather fragrances (Greenley is better :-)). This is an authentic citric fragrance in the beginning with a fresh and musky ending. It smells like masculine clean sheets in the absolute best way possible.

It is an expensive fragrance, but Sedley has gotten me many more compliments than #3 and below. And it’s not just friends and family; many were from attractive women.

It is limited to Spring and Summer wear, while the performance is moderate but always good enough to get you noticed.

Overall, this is one fragrance that I would struggle to live without. The compliments Sedley gets are a factor, but even without it’s still a great fragrance.

Pros

  • A unique summer-focused fragrance.
  • A refreshing scent that still uses heavier notes.
  • It is good for formal occasions as casual events.

Cons

  • Can’t be worn in the cold weather.
  • It won’t be your cup of tea if you like complex fragrances.

Tom Ford Noir Extreme – Dessert in a Bottle

Why It’s Here: Noir Extreme smells like using a wooden spoon to eat a bowl of nutty vanilla ice cream with cinnamon spice sprinkled on top.

It is a warm and comforting fragrance that feels like being wrapped in a blanket. The colder it is, the more compliments it gets. This is not as holiday-like as Burberry London for Men. Yet, it’s heading in that direction.

The best things about it are great performance and a big scent bubble. Many compliments I have received have been because of the six-foot+ scent trail left as you walk by.

I can’t live without Sedley in the summer, and I can’t live without Noir Extreme in the winter.

You would have to spend a lot of money, but just these two fragrances would pull disrespectful amounts of compliments all year round and give the quality and performance to back it up for the price.

Pros

  • The most tasteful compliment-getter.
  • The performance is excellent but never overwhelms anyone.
  • If you only needed one fragrance for dates and winter, this would be the best choice.

Cons

  • N/A

My Experience With the Most Complimented Colognes for Men

Wearing fragrances, I’ve gotten compliments before, but it more realistically relies on you; even just the day you have can make a drastic difference. The above are more likely to get complimented than others, but that doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed.

It was found in a study that men who got to choose their fragrance were significantly more attractive than men who were assigned a fragrance. Why? They were more confident with that specific fragrance.

Bringing this back to my experience, I subconsciously dress nicer when I’m going to wear an expensive fragrance. I smile more with a scent I wholly enjoy. These are both very attractive traits, on top of an outstanding smell.

In short, use this list as a reference. YSL Y EDP is a highly complimented and popular fragrance, but only wear it if you like the smell. There are plenty of other choices if you don’t.

How to Pick the Most Complimented Colognes for You

This is slightly more complicated than most fragrances. Compliments tend to be garnered more by confidence than by the scent itself. So, it’s crucial you choose a fragrance that you wholly enjoy.

If all your coworkers, friends, and family said, “Hey, man, we don’t like your scent,” AND you still want to wear that fragrance, you’re on the right path. (A bit dramatic, but you get the point).

If you have little experience with fragrances, the easiest way to determine your scent is by trusting this list or comparing fragrances to other ones you’ve smelt and enjoyed.

If you’ve liked an aromatic fragrance, you may like YSL Y EDP. If you’ve liked ambroxan, then Dylan Blue, etc…

Once you have a few fragrances you love, check out their price. Never pay more than you’re comfortable with. There are plenty of scents to choose from.

If you love the scent and it’s in your price range. Make sure it works for the seasons and occasions you want to wear it, and you’re good to go.
