Gold Knight By Kilian Review – Everything You Need To Know

Gold Knight.

One of By Kilian’s best performers.

Kilian Gold Knight was released in 2017. It is based on sweet honey, anis, and spices. It lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Gold Knight By Kilian Smell Like?

The opening is led by vanilla, anise, and bergamot. All sit atop a warm amber thickness. Anise is spicy combined with a subtle honey sweetness that will gain strength over time. The citric bergamot is fleeting; within a few minutes, it dissipates.

The overarching emphasis in the opening is spicy and sweet on top of a warm amber backbone.

Once the bergamot falls back, vanilla jumps to the forefront, combining with amber. The two will be a prominent duo for the rest of the wear. This same quality combination can be found in MFK Grand Soir.

The same scent profile will hang on until the dry down, where the anise will weaken. It eventually falls away, and honey combines with the amber, vanilla duo. The final touch is a slightly woody, earthy patchouli nuance.

Performance

Gold Knight lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. It has a room-filling projection for the first three to four hours. After this period, it recedes but maintains an arm’s length or more ambiance for the rest of the wear.

The sillage is just as good. This rich, dense fragrance leaves a long scent trail as you move around. The more you move, the better this smells and the further it projects. This performance is with two sprays.

This is fall, winter, and early spring wear. As for occasions, it is best for special occasions or casual wear. In close-quarter settings, you’ll have to moderate your sprays as this gets intense. Open areas and rooms do exceptionally well and let this beautiful juice air out.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are above average. This is a beautiful blend of spices, sweetness, and a touch of dirty patchouli. However, the intense sweetness can be cloying to some, and the dirtiness of patchouli may be off-putting. This is less about mass-appeal and more about allure.

Final Words

Unfortunately, if you like the smell but not the price point, there are no clones.

The final burning question is, is Gold Knight by Kilian worth it? It’s worth a sample or decant. I love this fragrance with the unique patchouli twist in the base. But I sometimes find it difficult to wear because of its intense sweetness and enormous projection.

Yes, it’s an artisanal fragrance, but make sure its smell is worth the hard wearability and price.

After you try Gold Knight by Kilian, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
