Ralph Lauren Purple Label Review – Do You Need It?

Purple Label.

One of the classiest Ralph Lauren fragrances.

Ralph Lauren Purple Label was released in 2003. It is based on aromatics, fruits, and woods. It lasts six hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Ralph Lauren Purple Label Smell Like?

The opening is all about fruity berries and greens with a woody base peaking from below. The most prominent is the blackberry accord. If you’ve ever eaten a fresh one, you’ll know the fruity, sweet, and tart nature it has. It is the same idea here. I love that it’s present, as it’s a unique way to grab attention.

Within a few minutes, the wood notes intensify, leading the fruity greenness into the mid.

The mid retains the same sweetness and wood but adds a smoky tobacco note in the background. It works best with the greenness because it is a ripe tobacco leaf with herbaceous accents. It isn’t cherried but has that idea when combined with blackberry.

Musk and oak moss are the final additions in the dry down. Of course, musk is musky. Whereas the oak moss smells almost leathery. Give it a few minutes; prominent wood and intensified smoky tobacco will swallow it whole. The rest of the wear is fruity aromatics atop a woody tobacco depth.

Performance

Purple Label lasts six hours on the skin with intimate projection. The initial spray only projects a light ambiance of one foot for the entire wear. This is a downfall, but it works for the occasions it is meant for. This performance is with five sprays.

This is all-season wear, except the hottest days of summer and coldest days of winter, respectively. You’ll get eight to nine months of wear if you live in a four-season climate.

As for occasions, it is exclusively dates and formal occasions. This comes from a combination of subtle projection and classy and sophisticated aroma.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent. This is the number one aspect that makes this fragrance great for formal occasions and dates. It is a unique blend of notes that attracts attention but isn’t decisive.

Ralph Lauren Purple Label Review
Besuited Aroma gives Ralph Lauren Purple Label a 7.8 out of 10 rating.

Ralph Lauren Purple Label Clones

The most similar fragrance is Bond No 9 Bleecker Street. It is slightly fresher but has the same prominent fruity and woody accords. Bleecker Street is more expensive.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Ralph Lauren Purple Label worth it? It’s worth a sample or decant. This is a high-quality and unique fragrance. But the performance is below average, and it’s slightly expensive. Thus, I recommend you fall in love with the fragrance before you purchase.

Purple Label is an excellent cologne and a polo cologne. Yet, don’t just limit yourself to Purple Label. Check out the best polo colognes for men. All are primed to cut through the cold air; you might just find your signature scent.
