How Does Versace Describe It?
Here is the product description, “A strong masculine fragrance, Dylan Blue encapsulates the sensual scents of the Mediterranean with refreshing hints of bergamot and grapefruit. The bold perfume is stored in a blue, geometric bottle enriched with gold-tone accents, evoking the Mediterranean sea and sand.“
What Does Versace Dylan Blue Smell Like?
The opening starts with a citrus blast from a bergamot and grapefruit combination. Underneath are warmer aquatic and salty ambroxan notes with a shower gel vibe. Previously, I have described the shower gel aroma as fruity.
The citruses and shower gel aroma lead the way for the first few minutes. While the aquatic and warm ambroxan become increasingly stronger.
Once in the heart of the fragrance, it’s a battleground of notes. The shower gel aroma has dissipated. The citruses and fresh spices linger but are both significantly weakened. While the ambroxan washes over the scent. Specifically salty ambroxan.
If salty ambroxan doesn’t make sense. Think of it as Dior Sauvage’s ambroxan dry down mixed with ocean water. After two to three hours, the rest of the wear is fresh, salty ambroxan with musk nuances.
Dylan Blue does have a scent progression. However, it’s mostly a beginning and an end, with a quick transition in the middle.

Performance
The performance is slightly above-average. On the skin, it lasts 8 – 10 hours with moderate and consistent projection. With a typical spray routine, it pushes out 3 – 4 feet for hours before receding. It’s not that type of fragrance that slowly loses strength. It’s there; then it’s gone.
So how about wearability? I’m sure you can make a pretty good guess as a blue fragrance. Dylan Blue is a great choice for all occasions and all seasons.
As for likability and compliments, it’s one of the most complimented blue fragrances and extremely likable. I don’t know what it is, but people, specifically women, tend to love the smell of ambroxan.
Nor will this scent offend anyone in close-quarter settings like school or the office. The smell and performance are just right neither ever comes across as too overwhelming. The only hate you may get from this fragrance is that it’s a popular blue fragrance. But, it has also become popular for a reason.
Is Versace Dylan Blue Worth It?
Yes. On discounters, a 100mL bottle costs just $55. It is the most affordable blue fragrance and also one of the better ones. The performance is excellent and can be worn regardless of season or occasion.
The few cons that come to mind are the popularity. It won’t be a unique scent to you. As well as the shower gel aroma in the opening of the wear. I personally enjoy the opening. However, some find it off-putting and synthetic.
Dylan Blue by Versace is also one of the best first fragrances for any man.

History
Versace is a designer brand with a long history of creating fragrances for both men and women. They are most notable for the Eros line, yet the Pour Homme line is pretty close behind.
Versace Dylan Blue was released in 2016. It only comes in one concentration – EDT. Yet, it is a flanker of the original Pour Homme. They all have their own theme rather than just copying each other with different concentrations. Check out the original here.
My Experience With Versace Dylan Blue
All of the above information is my experience with Versace Dylan Blue. However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion.
One of the better blue fragrances in my collection. Many dislike the saltiness of the ambroxan, but I think it gives the scent character, giving a more unique accent than most other blue fragrances.
On top of this, it is a simple scent. There’s a prominent opening and distinct base, but nothing crazy happens in the middle. This is awesome because it makes Dylan Blue dependable and, thus, easy to wear.
In short, one of the best blue fragrances for men.
