Dior Homme

Don’t expect much development from Dior Homme. The dominant warm cedar and Iso E Super combination are present from the get-go.

The first 10-15 minutes initially have a subtle pink pepper spice, a degree of freshness, and resinous warmth.

The pink pepper is the only note I can pick out; the other two notes are extremely subtle and well-blended.

As the wear continues, it gets exceptionally woodier. It has the same Iso E Super found in Bleu de Chanel. The notes are all about warmth. As the scent dries down, there are faint additions of musk. The rest of the wear is warm wood and musk.

Dior Homme EDT is the most wearable fragrance for men, and I will stand on that hill. No matter the season or occasion, this works.

It lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with moderate and consistent projection. Most of the wear is a pleasant two to three-foot ambiance.

Dior Homme Intense

A prominent iris note leads the opening. It is dense and powdery, similar to that of Prada L’Homme.

In the background, authentic lavender is playing second fiddle. It doesn’t take over the scent but provides excellent balance for the floral iris note.

Iris combines with fruity sweet pear and musk nuances within a few minutes. The pear is less about the fruitiness and gives the mid a fresh accent that breaks up the florals.

However, with these new additions, much of the powderiness has dissipated.

The dry down simplifies. Warm cedar and slightly earthy vetiver give the base depth while fresh and musky accents linger on top.

Homme Intense lasts 12+ hours on the skin with excellent projection. It is a much louder fragrance than Dior Homme EDT, as it will fill a room for hours.

Once it recedes, it maintains a mild ambiance for the rest of the wear. As for seasons and occasions, it is all but lighter on the sprays in the warmer weather.

Final Words

The final and hardest question. Which is better…? Neither.

The original EDT and the Intense versions are very similar fragrances. Homme Intense has a decent dose of iris, but the general idea of the scent development is the same.

The only decision you have to make is whether you want a room-filling or gentlemanly projection.

Both of these fragrances are some of the best for men. However, don’t limit yourself to these two. Discover the best Dior colognes for men here.
