What Does Chanel Egoiste Platinum EDT Smell Like?

Upon the first spray is a blast of herbs and aromatics. The main notes I can smell are greens, neroli, and lavender. This is a typical barbershop aroma but one with a soapier nature.

After 10-15 minutes, the green and herbal nature becomes the focal point. Wood and spice nuances coat the edges of the aromatics. The spices never “slap me in the face.”

Instead, they are a refreshing touch. Think of them like aftershave. At the same time, the woods give the scent depth and an outdoorsy faucet.

The outdoorsy faucet becomes understandable once the dry-down starts to develop. Vetiver leads the dry down with warm woods in the background. The rest of the wear is green aromatics atop a woody depth.

Chanel Egoiste Platnium notes:

TOP NOTES

  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Neroli
  • Petitgrain

MID NOTES

  • Geranium
  • Clary Sage
  • Galbanum
  • Jasmine

BASE NOTES

  • Oakmoss
  • Vetiver
  • Cedar
  • Sandalwood
  • Amber

Performance

Egoiste Platinum EDT lasts six to eight hours on the skin with above-average projection. It pushes out an arm’s length or more for multiple hours before receding, never becoming a skin scent.

The rest of the wear creates a pleasant ambiance around you.

The sillage is as good. It leaves a scent trial when you walk around but doesn’t amplify your presence. This performance is with four sprays.

This is all-season versatile. In the winter, you’ll have to apply heavier, and the performance is more on the six-hour side, but it still works well. As for occasions, this is all. It’s your typical barbershop fragrance, fresh, mature, and wearable.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are above average. This isn’t a fragrance that garners a bunch of attention, nor was it made for that. But it is simple and wearable. A fragrance that will easily fit into any situation and be liked by all.

Is Chanel Egoiste Platinum Discontinued?

Egoiste Platinum EDT is NOT discontinued. It is still readily available on Chanel’s official website and retailers. However, the Platinum version can’t be found on discounters. This is the case for almost all Chanel colognes.

If a fragrance still has an active listing on the brand’s official website, it is still in production. If not, it is often delisted but still in production and sold to retailers and discounters.

Chanel Egoiste Platinum EDT Clones

Before I talk about the best clone, I want to mention that the original Egoiste EDT is not a similar fragrance. It has a heavy focus on sandalwood. While this one is light and aromatic. If you want a full review, check it out here.

The most similar fragrance is Andres Croxatto Man. A similar fragrance but has a prominent citrus accord and a more prominent woody accord. Both are simple, fresh, and masculine.

Final Words

Chanel Egoiste Platium is worth it. There are no red flags about the fragrance. I mentioned this is one of the best barbershop colognes for men, and it is.

Some may say this is slightly mature as barbershop colognes are in general, but as a guy in his 20s, this is very wearable.

I enjoy it because I can virtually pick this up, spray on, and go, and not think twice about what I want to wear that day. A great fragrance after a shower and a fresh shave.

Egoiste Platinum EDT is an excellent cologne and great for gentlemen. Yet, don’t just limit yourself to Egoiste Platinum EDT. Check out the best barbershop cologne. All are primed to smell masculine; you might just find your signature scent.
