Quick Summary

  • A summer-focused fragrance.
  • Based around fresh citrus and slight masculine depth.
  • The performance is great for a citrus-based fragrance.
  • An affordable designer fragrance.
  • One of the best summer fragrances for men.

How Does Dolce & Gabbana Describe it?

Here is the product description, “The sensuality of sun-drenched skin, the bracing breeze of the Mediterranean Sea, the fruity and floral scents of the vegetation: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense captures the quintessence of a summer day lulled by gentle waves lapping against the enchanting cliffs of Capri.”

What Does Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense Smell Like?

Right off the bat, a vibrant aromatic accord dominates the opening. While fresh citric accents assist in the background. The actual smells of bergamot and mandarin orange are not present, only donating freshness.

In the initial opening, there is an aquatic and marine background. Still, it isn’t a significant player until later into the wear.

After the first 10 – 15 minutes, the aromatics remain dominant with equal parts fresh accents. Yet, with fewer citric accords.

At this point, the only significant difference is the salty accents from the oceanic notes. These peak through and add an exciting blend to the fresh, top notes.

After a few hours, the scent settles into itself. Much more profound and more masculine accords peak from the base.

The freshness is still present for the rest of the wear. But the saltiness has died down, allowing the aquatic notes to become more present.

Coming with the newfound aquatic accords are musky nuances and an ever-so-slight woody depth. The rest of the wear settles into aquatics, musk, and woods, always retaining the freshness from the opening.

This a straightforward and quite linear scent.

The official Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense notes:

BASE NOTES

Performance

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Intense lasts seven hours on the skin.

The projection during this time is light to moderate. In the first few hours, it pushes out two to three feet before receding closer to the skin and becoming a skin scent.

As for versatility, it’s limited. This is best worn in the hot temperatures of summer and maybe spring if it’s warm enough. The type of vibe this fragrance gives off is lounging around on the beach.

As for occasions, it is best for casual situations. Yet, it still has a fresh alluring aroma that would serve you well for dates or formal occasions in the warmer weather.

As you may be able to tell from what was just said, D&G Light Blue Eau Intense gets many compliments. Its fresh, wearable, and masculine aroma has a thing for attracting attention.

This leads to its likability and easy wearability. Unless you dump a bottle of this on you, I don’t see how anyone could find this to be an offensive scent.

Is Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense Worth it?

The smell is fantastic, and the wearability and likeability are spot on. The longevity and projection are slightly above average.

Surprisingly good for a summery fragrance. The biggest downfall is its seasonality. At the time of writing, a 100mL bottle can be purchased for around $70.

Considering this information, Light Blue Eau Intense is worth it. I don’t recommend this as your only scent. But one of the best first summer scents.

Besuited Aroma gives Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense a rating of 8.4 out of 10.

Presentation

Let’s talk about what a real bottle should look like when you purchase one. The current bottle I am reviewing was purchased from fragranceX.com.

The bottle is clear glass with silver writing on the front. The cap is light blue and silver and clicks into place, and is secure, so you won’t have to worry about spillage.

The box is light blue and covered in suede. It has the same appearance as the bottle, with silver writing on the front.

The batch code will be on the bottom of the bottle and etched into the glass. The box does not have the batch code.

History

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense is a flanker of the original D&G Light Blue. The original was released in 2007 and has a similar aroma. Yet, slightly more mature. Eau Intense was released in 2017 with the same light blue DNA.

This was perfumed by Alberto Morillas. There are a few other light blue flankers, Italian Love and Forever Pour Homme, to name a few, but they are less popular than aforementioned.

Lastly, there is a women’s version of Eau Intense, which comes in a rectangular bottle. As a man, you want the rounded “bubbly” version.

My Experience With Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense

All of the above information is my experience with Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense.

However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion.

The scent is great for the summer as it is easy to wear and mass-appealing. However, I am one of the people who dislikes the saltiness of the notes. I enjoy the ocean, but smelling like the ocean is not to my taste.

Other than this one dislike, I enjoy Light Blue Eau Intense for both its smell and performance.

Final Words

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense is one of the best summer fragrances for men. Yes, it is only for summer, but that is its only downfall.

If you have a collection or are looking to start one, you’ll have different fragrances for different seasons and occasions already. Thus, the seasonality is not a downfall and rather doing what it was meant to.
