How Mont Blanc Describes it

Here is the product description, “An authentic fragrance, full of adventure and freedom, that reveals refined masculinity, presence, and charisma by narrating a journey around the world.”

What Does Mont Blanc Explorer Smell Like?

You won’t smell any pineapple notes in the opening. There’s not even any in the scent tree. The first five minutes are all about semi-sweet, fruity bergamot. It has freshness and some fruitiness but neither the intensity of Aventus.

Instead of pineapple, you’ll smell fleeting wafts of pink pepper and clary sage. After this period, it heads into the Aventus direction. Bergamot weakens while a heavy dose of ambroxan and wood fills the void.

But wait? Aventus doesn’t have ambroxan. That’s true. Yet something about the ambroxan and wood duo gives it odd similarities for the first hour.

It makes more sense since the wood note is akigalawood. It donates a darker accent and “earthiness.” It’s not quite the same as Aventus, but heading in the right direction.

Musk nuances add later in the wear. The rest of the wear will finish with ambroxan, wood, musk, and fresh accents. It’s safe to say Explorer is a linear scent.

There are similarities with Aventus, but people can tell the difference 9 times out of 10.

The official Mont Blanc Explorer notes:

  • Pink Pepper
  • Clary Sage

Mont Blanc Explorer Performance

How Long Does Mont Blanc Explorer Last?

Explorer consistently lasts 7 hours on the skin. Explorer is not known for its performance, but at least it’s slightly better than average.

The first hour has an average projection and scent trail. It is a lighter fragrance, so it doesn’t have the means to stick in the air. Once the intensity of the woody notes fades, so does the scent.

Near the end of the wear, Explorer does become a skin scent.

Is Mont Blanc Explorer a Winter or Summer Fragrance?

Mont Blanc Explorer has great versatility. It can be worn for all seasons or occasions. The scent is the best of both worlds in that it’s not too formal or too dressed down. The same can be said for the seasons.

Is Mont Blanc Explorer Unique?

As a fragrance that is a clone and focuses heavily on ambroxan, it is not unique. It is going to be similar to Aventus and many blue fragrances. These are the reasons this is Explorer’s lowest-rated category.

Is Mont Blanc Explorer a Compliment Getter?

The compliments and likability are good. The ambroxan is an attention magnet and loves to draw compliments. As for likeability, it is subtle and inoffensive. It’s a difficult fragrance not to like.

Is Mont Blanc Explorer Worth It?

Well, if you get it for the right price.

On Mont Blanc’s website, they have it priced at around $100. At this price, it is not worth it. On a discounting website or at a store, anything below $35 would be a good buy.

It is not a must-have fragrance, but it is an excellent men’s cologne to have. If you are looking exclusively for a Creed Aventus clone, check out my list of the top 10.
