Versace Eros vs. Dylan Blue

Versace Eros vs. Dylan Blue – Which is Best for You?

A battle of Versace.

Dylan Blue and Eros are the two most popular Versace fragrances.

In this review, I will compare Eros and Dylan Blue‘s smell and performance. At the end, I will give more insight from my experience with the fragrances and help you decide which is best for you.

Versace Eros

The opening starts with an intense blast of mint and green apple. There are spicy accents, slight sweetness, and a heavy aromatic accord.

Over the first few minutes, the aromatic accord only becomes stronger. Overpowering, the other top notes.

The first few minutes are equal parts spicy mint and aromatics. The mint is so intense it makes my eyes water a bit. The green apple accord from the initial spray was fleeting.

Yet, it left behind its sweet accents.

After 15 minutes, the intensity of the aromatics and spicy mint fade. They linger in the background and still emphasize a very fresh aroma.

Filling the void is a vanillic tonka bean. It is potentially the raw vanilla note as well. However, at this point, there’s a slight woody depth.

The vanilla accord becomes the most prominent with its sweet nuances over time. In the background are warm ambroxan accords paired with smooth cedar notes. They’re both faint and overpowered by the vanilla accord.

The rest of the wear finishes with prominent, slightly sweet vanilla and green nuances. Sitting atop a faint warm cedar and amber base.

Versace Dylan Blue

The opening starts with a citrus blast from a bergamot and grapefruit combination. Underneath are warmer aquatic and salty ambroxan notes with a shower gel vibe.

Previously, I have described the shower gel aroma as fruity.

The citruses and shower gel aroma lead the way for the first few minutes. While the aquatic and warm ambroxan become increasingly stronger.

Once in the heart of the fragrance, it’s a battleground of notes. The shower gel aroma has dissipated. The citruses and fresh spices linger but are both significantly weakened.

While the ambroxan washes over the scent. Specifically salty ambroxan.

If salty ambroxan doesn’t make sense. Think of it as Dior Sauvage’s ambroxan dry down mixed with ocean water. After 2 – 3 hours, the rest of the wear is fresh, salty ambroxan with musk nuances.

Dylan Blue does have a scent progression. However, it’s mostly a beginning and an end, with a quick transition in the middle.

Final Words

These are two opposite scents. But let’s start with what they have in common first.

  1. On discounters, both scents can be purchased for a very affordable price – more so than many other designer fragrances.
  2. Both lack uniqueness because of their ultra-popularity.
  3. Some of the best fragrances at grabbing attention. Dylan Blue is a compliment king. And Eros was made for clubbing/going out, so it knows how to attract attention.

The biggest differences are obviously the scent. Dylan Blue is a brighter fragrance based on ambroxan.

Eros is a darker fragrance based on vanilla. Even though these are both from the same brand, Dylan Blue smells of higher quality to my nose.

Versatility is the next big thing that sticks out to me. Dylan Blue can be worn everywhere and anywhere.

Whereas Eros is focused on the clubbing scene in the cooler weather. Eros is not the best choice if you want one fragrance that does it all.

I will always recommend Dylan Blue as it has a better cost for value. If you’re building a collection, try Eros, but know the EDT version reviewed today is the worst from the line.

The best Eros is the flame version.
