Here is the Product Description from Sephora, “Love, passion, beauty, and desire are the key concepts behind the new men’s fragrance by Versace. As Greek mythology and classic sculpture have characterized the Versace world since the beginning, so the perfection of the male body is evoked with an allusion to Eros, the God of Love. Versace Eros is a fragrance for a strong, passionate man, who is master of himself.

Eros interprets the sublime masculine through a luminous aura with an intense, vibrant, and glowing combination of fresh mint leaves, Italian lemon zest, and green apple.

An addictive sensuality accented by oriental, intriguing, and enveloping notes like tonka beans, ambroxan amber, geranium flower, and vanilla melds with a racy virility symbolized by woods—such as cedarwood from Atlas and Virginia—while vetiver and oak moss provide intensity and power.”

What Does Versace Eros Smell Like?

The first spray is just a slap in the face with intense mint and fruity green apple. The mint is the most attention-grabbing. It leads you right into the more spicy and greener side of Eros.

These first few minutes, mint with all its different accents, are just pumping out.

But it doesn’t take long for the sweet vanilla to make its way in. It comes in just as strongly as the mint, and the two shine in equal parts for hours.

It is not until about two hours into the wear that the warm ambroxan and wood start to peak up from the base. The main idea here is a very warm base for the lovable vanilla plus mint to rest on.

Once Eros stops changing, the mint is weak but present. At the same time, slightly sweet vanilla, wood, and warmth are the stars of the show.

This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

How Long Does Eros EDT Last?

Eros EDT is weaker than it used to be but still lasts longer than most fragrances. I always get seven to eight hours on the skin with decent projection.

This will push out an arm’s length for the first few hours. However, after this, it recedes close to the skin but never becomes a skin scent. The easiest way to get over this is to just spray more.

What Occasions Should I Wear Versace Eros EDT?

Speaking of wearability… It’s a cool weather fragrance but still has three-season wearability. Spring, Winter, and Fall. It is best worn for casual situations and is most known for going out, e.g., clubbing. 

I’ve heard other reviewers argue that it’s office wear, too. That may be true for the other concentrations since they are slightly more tamed. However, the EDT version is still primarily for open spaces. 

Is Versace Eros Seductive?

Lastly, likability. Women find this fragrance extremely attractive. Hence, it is such a popular clubbing fragrance. This is routinely one of the more complimented fragrances in my collection.

Now, it won’t be unique because it is so popular, but that’s okay. Women are going to care more about who and where the scent is coming from rather than if they’ve smelt it before.

Is Versace Eros EDT Worth It?

Owning an Eros is worth it, but not the EDT version. It’s actually the worst from the line. On discounters, a 100mL bottle can be purchased for $84.

This isn’t a bad price for a popular designer fragrance. Yet, when you consider the versatility, it becomes less enticing. 

How Do People Rate Versace Eros EDT?

Don’t just trust me; what do the masses think? This information is pulled from fragrantica.com. Providing a general estimate of what others think.

At the time of writing, Eros EDT has 14,211 votes with a rating of 4.06 stars out of 5. Based on the cost-for-value metric, this is rated as neutral to good value.

Presentation

The 30mL bottle reviewed today was purchased from FragranceX.com. Versace Eros comes in a blue-greenish bottle with the same colored cap.

The cap has a gold Versace emblem at the top. It is plastic and clicks into place.

The box is the same color scheme as the bottle, with the name and concentration on the front. The batch code will be on the bottom of both the box and bottle. Mine is OF2232.

Versace Eros History

Versace Eros was released in 2012 and created by perfumer Aurelian Guichard. Versace Eros was inspired by Greek Mythology, named after Eros—the Greek God of Love.

Since the inception of Eros EDT. Versace House has released three other flankers: Flame, Eau de Parfum (EDP), and Parfum.

My Experience with Versace Eros EDT

All of the above information is my experience with Versace Eros EDT.

However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion. 

Eros is an attractive scent, to say the least, but it’s not all that for me. My biggest dislike of the fragrance is its lack of quality or uniqueness.

Yes, it’s a more affordable designer fragrance, but still, it’s a designer fragrance. Dior Sauvage may be simple and expensive. Yet at least it owns that it’s an ambroxan bomb with the highest quality. 

The same can be said for Bleu de Chanel and YSL Y.

Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum is better than other fragrances with the same effect. It doesn’t have the same opening but still has a seductive and alluring amber, vanilla, spice, and floral aroma. 

This is personal preference but between JPG Le Male Le Parfum or any Eros. I would still pick Le Male Le Parfum. 

Side Note: The EDT version is the worst from the line. This review shouldn’t taint your view of any other concentrations. Many others LOVE the flame version.

Where Do I Buy Versace Eros?

Bottle Sizes:

Versace Eros EDT comes in 1oz, 1.7oz, 3.4oz, and 6.7oz bottles. The 200mL bottle, by far, has the best cost for value. However, if you’re looking to start a collection and want to save money, I recommend the 50mL and 100mL bottles.

The 30mL bottle is better for large collectors who want it in their collection. Buying fragrances at this size is actually the most expensive over the long run.

Other Options:

If you want to gift someone Eros EDT. The company makes gift sets with a travel spray, shower gel, and 100mL EDT bottle. 

Do you not want to drop $70 on a cologne you’ve never smelt before? I don’t blame you. Check out Besuited Aroma’s decants. They are the cheapest and easiest way to experience new fragrances.

How Much Versace Eros to Spray?

I recommend 4-6 Sprays.

If you’re indoors, you’ll want to be more conservative. Hence, four sprays are ideal. You can apply more if you’re outside or in a more open setting.

When to Wear Versace Eros?

The original Eros was designed for going out ex: clubbing, and social settings. To this day, the EDT version is most geared towards this objective.

However, the newest flankers are great for all-occasion wear. This is because they’re more well-rounded and less obnoxious.

Versace Eros vs Dior Sauvage?

Both are highly complimented and mass-appealing but differ in how they get there. They share similar scent profiles but differ in the intensities of the notes.

Eros has a citrus opening and a very prominent vanilla base. Whereas Sauvage has a citrus and spicy opening with a woody dry down.

What is a Versace Eros Clone?

Oxford Bleu English Laundry is the closest dupe of Versace Eros EDT.

The most similar fragrances are the other Eros concentrations. EDP and Parfum. The flame version is also similar but doesn’t entirely present the Eros DNA as the aforementioned.

As the concentrations increase, the fragrances get deeper, more well-rounded, and more mature. They are also much better for all-occasion wear.

Lastly, the best alternative to Versace Eros EDT is Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum. The scent is not similar at all, but it has a similar effect. It’s very attractive, great for going out, and amazing in the winter.

Final Words

Versace Eros EDT is a good fragrance, but of all the other concentrations and alternative fragrances, it’s not worth it. You can get more versatility for even less than Versace Dylan Blue.

This used to be the king of the club, but its time has come, and it’s been dethroned.
