How Does Xerjoff Describe it?

Here is the product description, “Uden Xerjoff hits the nose like a surging wave, with sea spray and a bright marine breeze bringing the senses to life. Hitting top notes of zesty lemon and grapefruit, the citrus character of this fougère scent travels to a bright heart of rose, sandalwood, and rum. Charmingly spirited and playful, base notes of vanilla, coffee, and musk ignite to create a powerful presence.”

What Does Xerjoff Uden Smell Like?

The opening begins with an authentic dose of lemon. At first, it has the sour bitterness of a freshly cut lemon, but within a few minutes becomes more citric.

Once this starts to happen, a subtle rum, coffee, and vanilla note wash over the top notes.

All notes are smooth and creamy but never sweet. They pair with citrus, adding a unique aspect to the opening. The rum and coffee accords fade five minutes into the wear, and the vanilla accord is pushed to the edges.

It was almost like a roller coaster ride. Vanilla was present, then weakened, then came back again. Once it returns, it’s there to stay and has a powdery accent.

For the next one to two hours, it is equal parts sensual and creamy vanilla paired with fresh citruses.

After this period, Uden picks up woody accords in the background. The rest of the wear is creamy vanilla and wood, both subtle yet, sophisticated.

Performance

Now you know the most important part of the fragrance. Let’s talk about the second. The longevity is 8 – 10 hours.

However, the projection is light. It pushes out a couple of feet for the first 1-2 hours, but once the dry-down starts, it recedes close to the skin.

The versatility is above average; it works great in the spring, summer, and fall. It can be worn in the mild temperatures of winter. However, the mid and base notes don’t have quite enough density to cut through the cold and dry air like others.

This can be worn for all occasions. It is classy enough for dates and formal occasions. Yet, also “dressed down” enough that it can be a great office perfume.

It partly has this duality because of its uniqueness. It is not common for fresh citruses to be paired with creamy vanilla. On top of this, it is a lesser-known scent, so it likely won’t be worn by many others.

This uniqueness translates to its supreme likability. It is neither offensive nor obnoxious.

Is Xerjoff Uden Worth It?

It lasts longer than average on the skin, has a unique smell, and is near all-year-round versatile. On the flip side, the projection is light.

Currently, a 50mL bottle costs $215. There’s no denying that it’s costly, but the light projection was the only con.

Besuited Aroma recommends this as a buy, considering what you get from the fragrance.

Besuited Aroma gives Xerjoff Uden a rating of 8.6 out of 10.

How do The People Rate Xerjoff Uden?

Don’t just trust me; what do the masses think? This information is pulled from fragrantica.com. Providing a general estimate of what others think.

At the time of writing, Uden has 1,175 votes with a rating of 4.38 stars out of 5. Based on the cost-for-value metric, it is rated as neutral to slightly overpriced.

Here are the top three pros and cons:

PROS

  • Notes of Vanilla, Lemon, and Rumcoffee are well-blended
  • Has a profound addictive power
  • Luxurious and complex

CONS

  • Similar to Chanel Allure Pour Homme
  • Not as impressive as other Xerjoff fragrances
  • Overwhelming citrus notes in the beginning

I will note that none of the cons were highly rated. They all had more downvotes than upvotes.

Presentation

The current sample I am reviewing was bought from Xerjoff’s official website. It was included in their sample kit. It is one of four 2mL bottles that they sent. The total cost for the sample box was about $37 with shipping.

Shown below is a box and bottle from Xerjoff’s website. The bottle is clear glass with the logo on the front. You can see the juice in the bottle. The box is purple with the logo on top and ingredients on the bottom.

The batch code will be on the bottom of both the box and bottle.

History

From Xerjoff, “Founded in 2006, the Xerjoff brand was launched by Sergio Momo with the aim of blending the most luxurious materials to complement the most affluent global lifestyles through the combination of old-world craftsmanship, rare raw materials, and a contemporary artistic sensibility.”

Uden was released in 2009 and quickly grew in popularity. It has one flanker known as Uden Overdose. This still has the prominent citrus accord. However, the vanilla and woody accords are replaced with amber.

My Experience With Xerjoff Uden

All of the above information is my experience with Xerjoff Uden.

However, I keep it as objective as possible. This way, you can objectively decide if this is a fragrance you want to purchase or if you’re comparing a few fragrances. Thus, this section is my subjective opinion.

Uden is one of my all-time favorite fragrances. This is from the combination of lemon, vanilla, and wood while still being extremely versatile. I may be biased, but there is nothing wrong with this scent.

You’ll either love the smell, or it won’t be your taste. But I doubt you’ll ever be able to say it smells bad.

FAQs

Where Should I Buy Xerjoff Uden?

Bottle Sizes: 50mL and 100mL

How Many Sprays Should I Apply?

4 Sprays.

What is the Difference Between Uden and Uden Overdose?

Both focus heavily on citrus accords. However, Uden overdose has a spicy mid and base and replaces the vanilla with amber notes. There are other note changes but not detectable, like the amber.

Uden overdose is also more office wear and less of a formal occasion fragrance.

Of the two, the original Uden has the better cost for value.

What is a Similar Fragrance to Xerjoff Uden?

Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche EDP.

Conclusion

Is Xerjoff Uden the right choice for you? To my nose, this is one of the best Xerjoff fragrances. The longevity is excellent and can almost act as a dumb-reach fragrance.

You can always purchase a sample kit. However, if you’re deadset on blind buying, this is one of the safer Xerjoff choices.
