Sauvage EDT.
The original ambroxan-bomb blue fragrance.
Dior Sauvage EDT was released in 2015. It is based on citruses, spices, and ambroxan. It lasts 10 hours on the skin with above-average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Dior Sauvage EDT Smell Like?
Right off the bat, it’s clean, fresh, and inviting. You’re definitely able to tell why it’s so highly complimented. Ambroxan is not at the forefront but is already playing a significant role. The top notes are:
- Mainly sharp bergamot.
- A decent dose of lavender.
- A warm and spicy kick of Sichuan pepper.
They are all strong enough to balance out the prominence of ambroxan. As the scent develops, the sharpness gets smoother. The initial opening is the only part that’s strength knocks you off your seat.
After 20 minutes, the bergamot and spice weaken. The scent retains its smoothness from remaining lavender and supporting florals. This clean lavender and ambroxan is what you’ll smell for most of the wear.
Ambroxan leads the dry down and, by far and wide, the dominant note for the rest of the wear. It is paired with spice nuances and a touch of cedar.

Performance
Dior Sauvage is an excellent performer lasting on the skin for 10 hours and filling a room. This is the loudest, along with the Elixir version of all Sauvage concentrations. I get this performance with three sprays.
This is all-year-round and all-occasion wear. Even in the summer, it works. Some guys complain that it’s too much. But that’s only if you wear it in 90-degree weather with too many sprays.
It is the “just right” version of everything that can be worn for anything. Not much else can be said about its versatility. This leads me to its uniqueness. Compared to other men, it is not unique. It’s actually the least unique fragrance on the market to you.
However, the smell is different. It gets a lot of heat for being an ambroxan bomb. Yet, the Dior Sauvage line started these ambroxan-based fragrances. So, I have to give credit where credit is due. Still, not the epitome of artisanal perfumery, though.
Lastly, Sauvage is likable and will get you compliments. The TikTok of girls fainting when “he” wears Dior Sauvage is accurate in the amount of attention. The EDT version is more so than the other concentrations as it is the loudest and most ambroxan-based.
Dior Sauvage EDT Clones
Sauvage EDP is the most similar fragrance. It only takes the EDT and gives it a rounder and smoother touch. Outside of the line, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon is the most similar fragrance.
Both are ambroxan-based fragrances with a spicy kick. However, the biggest difference is that Luna Rossa Carbon doesn’t have an as prominent bergamot note in the opening. It is also better blended and has that Prada “class.”
Final Words
Of all Sauvage versions, the EDT is the least expensive. The final burning question is, is Dior Sauvage EDT worth it? Yes, but it’s not the best from the line. I would be crazy to not recommend this fragrance as being worth it. Some will complain it’s too popular, but it became so for a reason.
However, before you blind buy this, look into the other concentrations. The EDT version is best at receiving compliments as it is the loudest. But I like the EDP version more as it still garners attention but is easier and more pleasant to wear. It is $20 more, but it is worth it.
